New York Yankees: Top Potential September Call-Ups
The New York Yankees' September call-ups may have an impact if the club wins the American League East or enter the playoffs as the wild card winners.
Either way, the Yankees will have some intriguing players join their roster in the coming days.
One of the top prospects in the MLB should get his first at-bats at Yankee stadium and the Yankees could find the answer to their pitching problems.
Dellin Betances
1 of 6Dellin Betances is one candidate for a September call-up. He has had some control issues in the minor leagues this year and throughout his career, but Betances has a lot of potential.
Betances could either join the back end of the club's rotation, or he could join their bullpen.
Either way, Betances will be a welcomed addition to the Yankees pitching staff.
Jesus Montero
2 of 6Jesus Montero will be called up by the Yanks this September. The fact that he is not currently on the team's 40-man roster is just a minor deterrent as a spot will be cleared for him.
Montero was the No. 3 prospect in the game according to Baseball America entering this season and may see many of his at-bats come from the DH spot in the Yankees' lineup.
Montero will give the Yankees a reason to stop sending Jorge Posada to the plate so often.
Brandon Laird
3 of 6Brandon Laird has impressed the New York Yankees' front office each of the past two seasons. He was able to get a short call-up to the big leagues earlier this season.
Laird should be called up once again in September. He has the ability to play both first and third base for the Yankees and will be a useful addition to the team's bench.
Chris Dickerson
4 of 6The New York Yankees outfield is already very crowded, so it might not seem to make sense why Chris Dickerson would be a top September call-up, but Dickerson performed well in his short stint with the Yankees earlier this season.
In September, Dickerson would likely be used for his speed as a pinch runner and for his outstanding defense as a late-innings defensive replacement.
Lance Pendleton
5 of 6Lance Pendleton has already appeared in 11 games for the Yankees this season. He pitched out of the Yankees' bullpen and has had success against major league hitters.
Pendleton would be a welcomed addition to the Yankees' bullpen as he will be able to prevent some of the other bullpen arms from getting tired.
Pendelton will also be able to prove that he belongs as a member of a major league bullpen.
Manny Banuelos
6 of 6Manny Banuelos is not currently on the New York Yankees' 40-man roster. This is an impediment to him being called up to the majors and it is uncertain if Banuelos will be called up this September.
He has had some control issues throughout the year and there is no reason why the Yankees need to call him up.
There however is a chance they could want to get him a few innings against MLB hitting this season.
