5 Reasons the Detroit Lions' Ndamukong Suh Is the NFL's Version of Shaq

Besides Barry Sanders, Ndamukong Suh is the best thing to hit Detroit since the automobile.

Suh wreaked havoc on the NFL in his rookie season, imposing his will on everything in his path. I don't think people know how to size up Ndamukong yet.

No one has ever seen anything like him on a football field. When comparing his extraordinary attributes only one athlete in history comes to mind: Shaquille O'Neal.

Remember when Shaq came to the NBA? No one had ever seen talent quite like his before; no one knew how to stop him. 

Both Shaquille O'neal and Ndamukong Suh took their respective sports by storm, taking no prisoners. Both men are larger than life and possess an innate ability to captivate attention. 

Ndamukong Suh is the NFL's version of Shaquille O'Neal.

Here are five reasons the Detroit Lions' Ndamukong Suh is the NFL's version of Shaquille O'Neal.     

No. 5: Outgoing Personality

Ndamukong Suh has already become a fan favorite in Detroit. As a fan, it's not hard to fall in love with the young juggernaut.

Suh is happy to sign autographs and has already appeared at Detroit Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers games. He is also active in the community, which is great for the city of Detroit.

Ndamukong Suh has also set a world record on Twitter for a record amount of "tweetups".

Much like Shaquille O'Neal, people can't get enough of Suh. He already has appeared in numerous commercials with many more to come. His personality is infectious. 

What's next for Suh? A movie career? A video game? A hip-hop career? 

Well, most likely all of the above except the jump into the music industry.

Never underestimate Ndamukong Suh though, he may live by Shaq's motto: TWIsM (The World is Mine). 

No. 4: Size and Strength

Like Shaq, Ndamukong Suh has an unprecedented amount of size and strength. He is listed at 6'4", 307 pounds. 

The scariest thing about that tidbit of information is that Suh is only 24 years old and has some more filling out to do.

Paired with his athleticism, Suh is a new breed of super athlete.

Shaq did things on a basketball court that people didn't believe were humanly possible. Suh shares that trait and continuously amazes everyone who witness his incredible feats.

Like Shaq in his younger days, Ndamukong Suh commands a double-team in which he embarrasses the opposition with regularity.

The size and strength of Suh is purely out of this world.    

No. 3: Game Changer

Recently, Ndamukong Suh has begun to get a bad wrap as a "dirty player."

This is not true in the slightest. 

In recent years, the NFL has cracked down on what a defensive player can do to a quarterback. Suh has received numerous personal foul penalties for simply finishing every play. 

To be honest, with the size and strength Suh holds I don't know if the NFL referees know how to properly officiate against him. He has been penalized numerous times for simply being too strong.

Suh is ferocious on the football field, a force that can't be held back; but he is not "dirty".

The NBA changed a rule or two because of Shaq's presence on the court. The semi-circle below the basket was created to constitute where a charging/blocking foul occurred with Shaq in mind. Before the semi-circle appeared, Shaq would simply stand under the hoop and do his best impersonation of the Great Wall of China. Coach Phil Jackson would frequently argue with officials stating that Shaq was naturally an impenetrable force. 

Teams also molded their game-plan around "Hack-A-Shaq," sending the notoriously poor free-throw shooter to the line as much as possible.

NFL teams try to devise a plan to stop Ndamukong Suh, but they haven't succeeded yet.

While the NFL hasn't specifically changed any rules because of Suh's brute behavior to date, he may soon be limited to "two-hand touch" against enemy quarterbacks.

No. 2: Pure Domination

In his rookie season Ndamukong Suh tallied 66 tackles, 10 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.

He dominates the attention of the fans, opposition and statistician.

With the focus mainly on him, his teammates can make a good living for themselves feasting on their foes. For this fact alone, his value is priceless.   

Like Shaquille O'Neal, Suh is like nothing anyone has ever seen before. 

It's as if he's Billy Madison taking on bunch of third graders in a game of dodgeball.

Ndamukong Suh will dominate the NFL for the next decade.  

No. 1: First Ballot Hall of Fame Selection

Like Shaquille O'Neal, Ndamukong Suh took home Rookie of the Year honors. Suh also was selected to his first Pro Bowl. 

These are the the first of many individual achievements for Suh that will mimic Shaq's career.

Now all that's left to do is to lead the league in sacks a few times, an MVP or two and a fistful of Super Bowl rings.

Don't be surprised when Suh reaches these aspirations for his team, the Detroit Lions.

The Hall of Fame is in the future for Ndamukong Suh.
