Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Listen: SIRIUS XM Radio 85 (MIN) 112 (TEN)
The Tennessee Titans will face off against the Minnesota Vikings at home for their first preseason game of the 2011 NFL season. The game will be a showcasing of both old and new talent at the quarterback position. Each team has decided to go in a new direction this offseason with their QBs and head coaches. The Vikings drafted Christian Ponder with the 12th overall selection in the NFL Draft to eventually take over the reins from Donovan McNabb, who they also acquired this offseason. The Titans signed Matt Hasselbeck to groom Jake Locker, the 8th overall selection in this year’s draft. We should see a lot of all four of these quarterbacks in tonight’s game
Titans Key Addition:
Matt Hasselbeck. He is supposed to be the guy that finally gets the Tennessee Titans back in the postseason. The team hired Mike Munchak as the new head coach after finally giving up on Jeff Fisher and his first move is to get Hasselbeck up to speed on his offense. There are reports out of camp that this is not going smoothly so we may see Locker as early as this season if the team gets off to a rough start. Chris Johnson is still holding out so it can’t be easy on Hasselbeck to learn the offense.
Vikings Key Addition:
Donovan McNabb. McNabb is out to prove he still has something left in the tank. The QB fell out of favor in Washington and was traded to the Vikings for two late round draft picks. If this does not motivate him into playing well this season, I don’t think anything can. He should also provide veteran leadership and become a mentor to Christian Ponder.
Titans Biggest Loss:
Chris Johnson. Right now Johnson is holding out of camp and Javon Ringer is going to be the feature back for the team going into tonight’s game. This is a huge blow to the Titans, who need Johnson to have any shot at competing in the AFC South this year. Johnson is the key to their success and if he does not come back it would be a crippling blow.
Vikings Biggest Loss:
Sidney Rice. Rice was supposed to be the team’s priority off-season signing but they did not manage to lock him up. Seattle stole the young receiver away from Minnesota and rewarded him with a big contract, hoping he can stay healthy. This gives the new Minnesota QBs less skilled targets at the WR position. Look for Percy Harvin to step up this season in a big way if McNabb is to find success.
What They’re Saying:
John Glennon of The Tennessean made note of the injured players in tonight’s matchup. On the Titans side, both DT Sen’Derrick Marks and P Chad Cunningham are both inactive. Robert Johnson, Nick Schommer, and Kenny Britt are listed as doubtful. For the Vikings, Visanthe Shiancoe, Cedric Griffin, Kenny Onatolu and Anthony Herrera are listed as out.
Judd Zulgad is reporting from the Vikings training camp in Mankato, MN and is saying that Donovan McNabb does not worry about his one-year deal. McNabb said he feels that every contract is a one-year deal because he has to go out and perform at a high level. He pointed out that he signed an extension last summer and look how that ended up.
What’s Worth Watching?:
Quarterback play. Will the two veteran quarterbacks come in and show a mastery of their new offenses? Will the young draft picks get extended playing time and start to prove themselves? Keep an eye out for what quarterbacks get playing time and for how long.
Biggest Storyline:
Again, we need to see how Christian Ponder and Jake Locker do at this stage of their careers. They are not ready to take over for their respective teams, but a successful night tonight will be a good boon for their futures.
