The Seattle Seahawks running back has released a music video of his song "L.O.V.E.", which served as an anniversary gift to his wife, Angela. The song is actually pretty good with a catchy beat and lyrics that are kind of cheesy but get the message across.
In this day and age, with so many stories about athletes and infidelity, it is a refreshing change of pace to see someone actually go out of their way to do something nice for their wife. Sure, it's a nice publicity stunt, too, but that shouldn't take away from what Forsett did.
Forsett released the video on July 13, and while it hasn't quite taken off to the point that he will be looking to give up his NFL career to sign a record contract, he does show more musical talent than a lot of popular acts do.
I mean the fact that Forsett's video only has 8,300 views and Rebecca Black's "Friday" video has over 100 million views before it was pulled from YouTube speaks volumes about where we are at as a society with our taste in music.
But back to the main point: Forsett shows a very good feel for singing and putting together rhymes. His rhyme scheme is not great, no one is going to confuse him with Eric B. and Rakim, but for someone who was doing something nice for his wife, it is a nice achievement.
Now if Forsett can channel his prowess for songwriting into his running game, he will be a really good NFL running back. He actually isn't that bad right now, he just needs to get more touches.
Perhaps if he dedicates this song to head coach Pete Carroll, he will be given the starting job for the team in 2011. It's a long shot, but it couldn't hurt showing your coaches a little L.O.V.E.
