NFL Free Agents: Philadelphia Eagles Come out of Nowhere, Sign Nnamdi Asomugha
Since the lockout was lifted just about a week ago, Oakland Raiders' CB Nnamdi Asomugha was the hottest commodity on the free-agent market.
Today, the Philadelphia Eagles have won the sweepstakes for him; seemingly coming out of nowhere to do it.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is for five years worth $60 million, making Asomugha the richest cornerback in the NFL.

Throughout the course of free agency, it was reported that the New York Jets were the clear favorites to sign the four-time Pro Bowler; with teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans in the running as well.
Never once was Philadelphia mentioned as a contender for football's top cover corner.
The signing of Nnamdi comes directly after two other major defensive signings for the Eagles; they inked DE Jason Babin and traded for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
Simply put, the Eagles are clearly the team to beat in the NFC, and quite possibly the NFL. Especially with all of the weapons they possess on both sides of the ball.
Asomugha joins a defense already consisting All-Pro CB Asante Samuel and DE Trent Cole. Along with Mike Vick, DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy on offense.
With Asomugha and Johnathan Joseph off the free-agent board, teams like the Jets will now focus their attention on former Pro Bowler Nate Clements and Antonio Cromartie. Both are considered to be the top available defensive backs.
One thing is for certain, Philadelphia is hands down going to be one of the most exciting teams to watch on Sundays this fall.
