NFL Free Agency: Predicting Where Nnamdi Asomugha and Other Top-Notch Names Go

Justin WeltonJun 7, 2018

Nnamdi Asomugha, Plaxico Burress,Ā Randy MossĀ and a host of other top-notchĀ names are still available in NFL Free Agency.

Players are going fast in free agency like expected. There are some big names still left on the board though.

Here are where these five players will land when it is all said and done.

No. 5: Max Starks—Pittsburgh Steelers

1 of 5

Max Starks isn't necessarily top-notch in the NFL, but he is an important character to bring in.

The Pittsburgh Steelers cut him this week, but are attempting to sign him back at a lesser price.

Starks could help the Steelers if he can stay on the field. He has a good relationship with the Rooney's, Ben Roethlisberger and the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It would be a perfect fit.

No. 4: Terrell Owens—Free Agent

2 of 5

Terrell Owens says that he plans to play in 2011 after tearing his ACL in early April.Ā I'm not sure if he will be 100 percent ready when the season starts, and I think that owners feel the same way.

Owens will most likely get his chance if an injury occurs to a top receiverĀ late in the pre-season or early in the regular season.

What team will be willing to bring in this high-personality player? Some team will be desperate enough.

No. 3: Randy Moss—Free Agent

3 of 5

Is it possible for Bill Belichick to get two receivers like Chad Ochocinco and Randy Moss in the same free agency?

That is a consideration for the Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady. Like he needs the weapons.

WouldĀ Moss be a good fit back where he resurrected his career? Possibly, but why did they give him up in the first place? They know more than we do.

That is why I wouldn't sign him to a contract.Ā He is bad player to have in a locker room, and I wouldn't even consider it.

No. 2: Plaxico Burress—Pittsburgh Steelers

4 of 5

Pittsburgh SteelersĀ and the New York Giants seem to be the front-runner for Plaxico Burress' services.

The Steelers have Limas Sweed as a tall, lanky receiver, but he hasn't been able to get over his own problems. They need a tall receiver who youĀ can throw to in the red zone and Burress is just that.

Burress has friends and former teammates on the Steelers that are welcoming the idea of his return to the Steel-City, and I thinkĀ he will follow suit.

No. 1: Nnamdi Asomugha—New York Jets

5 of 5

Nnamdi Asomugha looks to be heading to the New York Jets.

If Asomugha does head to New York, he would join Darrelle Revis, allowing the Jets to have one of the best one-two cornerback combinations in the NFL.

Asomugha isn't a guy who shows himself as a leader with his style or personality, but he does it with his playĀ on the field.

It does say something that he doesn't want to go to a place where he would be considered the "savior" of the team, pushing them to possible Super Bowl contention like he would with the Houston Texans.

He would rather be "second fiddle" to Revis and take less money to play for a Super Bowl contender. If you consider Asomugha the best cornerback in the NFL (which I don't) doesn't it remind you of another sports mega star?

LeBron James.

He did the same exact thing with "The Decision" on ESPN. He decided to play, arguably, second fiddle to Dwyane Wade in Miami.

It isn't the same situation, but it is more similar than different.
