MLB Trade Rumors: Latest on Seattle Mariners Closer Brandon League
Felix Hernandez finally gave Seattle Mariners fans something to smile about today, as the M's shut down the New York Yankees' formidable offense and earned themselves a 9-2 victory, their first since the All-Star break.
Closer Brandon League came into the game in the ninth inning despite the non-save situation, but there's a possibility that may not last much longer.
Closers have been one of the main talks around the trade deadline this season, with Heath Bell, League and Leo Nunez all possibilities to be moved and Francisco Rodriguez already dealt.

There's no question that League is not the most wanted name on that list, but as the deadline neared, many analysts wondered if the Seattle closer was on his way out due to the high demand at that position and the fact David Aardsma will presumably be stepping back into his ninth inning role next season.
The California-born M's closer has expressed to MLB.com's Greg Johns that if he had it his way, he would remain in Seattle.
"I think I've made it pretty clear with my actions that I'm happy here," League told Johns.
He also added that he's "gotten a great opportunity [in Seattle], and have been treated well" during the same interview.
Though not exactly passionate words from the former Blue Jay, he did explain that he wishes to stay with his current team and it seems that he may just get it granted.
Mariners' president Chuck Armstrong told Fox Sports that a trade involving their closer was "at this point, not likely."
News from that high up may end any worries for Seattle fans, but as the old saying goes "never say never."
