MLB Trade Rumors: 5 Los Angeles Dodgers Who Should Be Traded

Justin WeltonJun 5, 2018

2011 has been a season to forget for Los Angeles Dodgers fans, ownership and players. At 43-55 the Dodgers find themselves as seller's instead of buyer's at the trade deadline.

Ted Lilly, Hiroki Kuroda and a few other players are being mentioned on the rumor mill.

Inย a season full of fan beatings, bankruptcy and down-right failure, the Dodgers are ready to forget about 2011.

Here are someย Dodgers thatย should beย dealt for future prospects.

No. 5: Matt Guerrier

1 of 5

Matt Guerrier leads the Dodgers in holds with 10. In 42.1 innings pitched, Guerrier has a 3-3 record with a 4.04 ERA.

He hasn't been great, but hasn't bad too bad in 2011. He could fill a team's need for bullpen help, and it wouldn't cost much to get him.

The Dodgers are shopping many players at the deadline and Guerrier may be the cheapest one to trade for.

No. 4: Juan Uribe

2 of 5

Juan Uribe is an intriguing player to ponder at the deadline this season. He is a career .253 hitter, but his .205 average in 2011 has really brought his career average down.

He has four home runs and 27 RBI in 75 games played in 2011.

Uribe won a World Series ring with the San Francisco Giants in 2010.

Before trading for Uribe, teams should consider not only how poor he has hit this season, but how poor of a hitter he is in the postseason. In 30 games played, Uribe is hitting .208 with three home runs and 16 RBI.

No. 3: Jamey Carroll

3 of 5

Jamey Carroll is not a prized target by any means. His ability to play multiple positions, however, does make him more of a target than most believe.

At 37, Carroll is hitting .288 with eight RBI in 89 games played. He has played 56 games at shortstop and 34 games at second base, showing that he is capable of playing either middle infield positions.

Carroll could be especially important to a team who suffers a middle infield injury before the deadline. He shouldn't cost an awful lot, especially for a defensive-first type of player. He has made three errors at second base and three errors at shortstop in 2011.

The Brewers appear to have the most interest.

No. 2: Ted Lilly

4 of 5

Ted Lilly is 6-10 with a 4.83 record in 20 starts in 2011. In the past four seasons, and five of the last six seasons, Lilly has kept his ERA under four.

Not this year.

His ERA has inflated to slightly below five, and in the National League, that doesn't bode too well for the Dodgers to get anything major in return for the lefty.

Seeing how he is a left-handed starter, teams may take more of a risk on Lilly hoping he can return to his previous season's quality.

It also helps that Lilly has played for Oakland, New York and Toronto. Teams are much more aware of what he can potentially do.

No. 1: Hiroki Kuroda

5 of 5

There are not too many instances where you will see a pitcher be 6-11 but carry a 3.12 ERA. That is exactly the position Hiroki Kuroda is in at this point in time.

At 36, the Dodgers shouldย part ways with the right-hander. If his ERA stays below four, it would mark his fourth-straight year recording an ERA under four. Those four years have been his first four years in Major League Baseball.

Many teams, including the Boston Red Sox, are interested in Kuroda.

In 120.2 innings pitched, he has only given up 42 earned runs.

If a team is in search of a consistent starter, Kurodaย is their man. The Dodgers aren't necessarily sure about giving the right-hander upโ€”unless they are building his return quality up, which is smartโ€”but they should be because of his age.

Kuroda has been a great pick-up for the Dodgers, but his tradeย value could be as high at it ever gets.
