Brian Wilson: The Beard's 5 Funniest Moments

David DanielsJun 7, 2018

The world of sports is full of entertaining characters, but San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson is in his own league of entertainment.

He is a walking Chuck Norris joke, truly the most interesting man in the world.  His pitching ability is top-notch, but his beard is legendary.

This man cannot seriously have an entire conversation without coming up with a priceless quote.  For example: at the 2011 MLB All-Star Game, ESPN interviewed B-Weezy post-game and what seemed like the average interview was just that until Pedro Gomez got too close with the microphone and Wilson reacted saying, "Get the beard off the mic there, getting a little close."  When Gomez questioned the contents of the beard, Wilson responded, "Well, there's garden gnomes cutting down trees and apparently there's an Irish gig lady dancing.  I haven't met her yet, but she's in this quadrant."

As hilarious Brian Wilson-moments continue to add up, here are his five funniest, so far:

If you feel the need to feel the beard, you're welcome.

Honorable Mention: Dynamite

With Brian Wilson's limited role in this video, it gets an honorable mention.  It was too funny to leave off the countdown though.  Plus, Wilson made the video anyway, fist-pumping the entire time.

He joined fellow Giant Cody Ross, mascot Lou Seal and some guy on YouTube named Keenan Cahill lip-syncing the song Dynamite.

Never doubt the beard.  That was a lesson Josh Elliot and Jay Harris learned the hard way.  There is a reason Brian Wilson is second in the majors in saves: batters fear the beard.

Joe Torre didn't retire last season just because the Dodgers lost in the playoffs.  Being forced to see The Beard so many times in one year wears on a manager's psyche.

4. Rage Time

You have to realize the context of this quote to fully appreciate it.

Brian Wilson and the San Francisco Giants just won the World Series.  In a post-game interview, after he just achieved every athletes dream, he manages to maintain the classic Brian Wilson-mindset and say, "I feel like I wanna rage, right now."

And the interviewer busts out laughing.

3. Jim Rome Is Burning

Jim Rome and Brian Wilson's polar opposite personalities clash to create a classic interview.

Wilson showed why he's the best-dressed man in baseball showing off his multi-colored socks and explaining why he was fined by the league: "For having too much awesome on my feet."

The Machine tried to make a special appearance, but Rome cut Wilson off to save his job.

2. Lopez Tonight

Brian Wilson proves to America why he needs his own show, and not just a reality TV show either.  He deserves a prime-time slot.

Wilson dyed his beard to "closely relate to a seaman" on Lopez Tonight as he cracked joke after joke.  He also pulled out a figurine of The Machine.  And no, I looked; you can't get one on eBay.

1. The Machine

"Sounds delicious."

And the video that began his rise to fame.

The cousin of the gimp, The Machine was born.  Now that's one crazy neighborhood, The Machine and The Beard living side-by-side.  What lucky neighbors.
