2011 MLB All-Star Game: Fans Get It Right, Select Jose Reyes, Matt Kemp
Mets shortstop Jose Reyes was behind Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki going into the last week of voting for the All-Star Game.
Today, it was revealed that Reyes overtook Tulowitzki in the voting and that he will be going to his fourth All-Star Game.
Reyes is having an outstanding year and put up a Ty Cobb-esque month in June. In 26 games, Reyes had 45 hits, 29 runs scored, seven triples and 11 stolen bases.

The last player to achieve numbers like that was Ty Cobb in 192. In July of that year, Cobb had 68 hits, 33 runs scored, eight triples and 15 stolen bases.
This was a case where the fans got the voting right, at least in the National League. Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp was also voted in to the All-Star Game by fans during the last week.
Kemp, the National League leader in home runs will be going to the All-Star Game for the first time. The Dodgers outfielder is having an outstanding year.
Reyes and Kemp are the two front-runners for the NL MVP award.
The National League’s starting lineup is as follows:
Catcher: Bryan McCann
First Baseman: Prince Fielder
Second Baseman: Rickie Weeks
Third Baseman: Placido Polanco
Shortstop: Jose Reyes
Outfield: Ryan Braun
Outfield: Matt Kemp
Outfield: Lance Berkman
The All-Star teams are not complete yet. The managers will add players to the roster and every team will have a representative. There is also a fan voting for the final spot on the All-Star Game roster.
