NFL: 20 Players Who Are Locks for the 2011 Pro Bowl
So we may not have a season, but hey, at least we can project some players who will be in the Pro Bowl.Ā
On another note, it is a shame that the NFL All-Star game doesn't matter much.Ā
But there's not a whole lot you can do.Ā
No one is going to play it in season and risk injury.Ā
Hey, maybe they should allow the winner to host the Super Bowl?
Maybe not. Ā
OK...on to the slideshow...
Peyton Manning, QB
1 of 20Duh.
He is Mr. Consistency.Ā
If there is one QB who is likely to not get injured and will find receivers, no matter who they are (i.e. Blair White), it's Peyton Manning.Ā
Aaron Rodgers, QB
2 of 20Rodgers has been solid since taking the helm at QB for the Pack.Ā
Next year, I can't see him taking a step back, as he gets Ryan Grant back as well as his host of receivers.Ā
He should go over 4,000 yards this year though (he was under 100 away last season).
Phillip Rivers, QB
3 of 20Phillip may be the best young QB in the league.Ā
And that includes the aforementioned Rodgers.Ā
Adrian Peterson, RB
4 of 20He may be the most consistent RB in the NFL...if he can stay healthy.Ā
And this year, with all kinds of questions at QB, it should be the Adrian Peterson show in Minny.Ā
Jamaal Charles, RB
5 of 20Thomas Jones is back, but he ain't getting any younger.Ā
And with Kansas City's success last year on offense with many young guys, they should be more comfortable this year.Ā
Not to mention getting another weapon in Jonathan Baldwin.Ā
All this should add up to some great numbers for Charles.Ā
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB
6 of 20Jones-Drew is consistent as we all know.Ā
And with questions at who will start at QB, MJD should see about the same amount of work as he did last year (299 carries, 1324 yards).Ā
Larry Fitzgerald, WR
7 of 20Larry Fitzgerald may be the best physical specimen at receiver in the NFL.Ā
What's even more amazing is that he did what he did last year with Derek Anderson, Max Hall, and John Skelton at QB.Ā
If he could get a decent QB again, imagine...
Andre Johnson, WR
8 of 20While Fitzgerald might be the best physical specimen at WR, Johnson may be the best.Ā
And now that he's got a very good QB in Matt Schaub, the sky is the limit.Ā
Reggie Wayne, WR
9 of 20As long as Peyton Manning is the QB, Wayne will put up big numbers.Ā
Roddy White, WR
10 of 20White isn't a physical specimen, extremely fast, or anything like that.Ā
He's just a heck of a receiver.Ā
One of the best stories in the NFL, White should have another great year with some attention taken off him by the rookie Julio Jones.Ā
Antonio Gates, TE
11 of 20Gates is just a freak of nature.Ā
We all know that, but it helps for him to stay healthy, which he wasn't able to do last year.Ā
This year should be better.Ā
Jake Long, OT
12 of 20The former number one pick is living up to his reputation, helping solidify the Dolphins as one of the elite running football teams.Ā
He should be back in the Pro Bowl despite what the Dolphins accomplish.Ā
Julius Peppers, DE
13 of 20Some people actually thought that Julius would slow down in Chicago.Ā
Hahahahaha....
Dwight Freeney, DE
14 of 20Freeney has had a great career in Indy, with several Pro Bowls.Ā
I can't see him missing it this year.Ā
Ndamukong Suh, DT
15 of 20Finally.Ā
Something Detroit fans can cheer about!
DeMarcus Ware, OLB
16 of 20Ware is about as consistent a sack machine as they come.Ā
He should have another great year in Dallas.
Terrell Suggs, OLB
17 of 20Suggs doesn't have any real eye popping stats, but always seems to be around the QB, and has the speed and size to remain one of the best in the game.Ā
And having Ray Lewis next to you helps too.
Patrick Willis, ILB
18 of 20Willis is a machine.Ā
'Nuff said.Ā
Darrelle Revis, CB
19 of 20There's a reason it's called Revis Island.Ā
Troy Palumalu, S
20 of 20Troy had some injury issues last year, yet still had enough votes to make the Pro Bowl.Ā
I can't see anything changing this year.Ā
