2011 NFL Draft Results Send Jake Locker to The Tennessee Titans

In one of the biggest shocks of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans selected Jake Locker over Blaine Gabbert to be their quarterback of the future.

Most mock drafts had Gabbert going to the Titans at the absolute lowest, which shows you how much us bloggers know, but the point is Locker defied the odds going into the draft and went in the Top 10.

Locker really is a good fit for the Titans, and we have a few reasons why.

Gabbert will go off the board soon enough and we wish him the best wherever he ends up.

Jake Locker Is the Anti Vince Young

Jake Locker is a dedicated athlete who does not rely on his natural talents to carry him through the game.

Most importantly, Locker has faced adversity in college and appears mentally equipped to deal with the peaks and valleys the NFL season can bring.

Young never could handle tough times, and it is the main reason Locker now is a Tennessee Titan.

Locker Knows How to Win

It all comes back to the message I try and convey in all my draft articles: Watch the tape.

When you watch the film of Locker's senior season, this is a quarterback who was doing everything he could to win the game, but his team let him down. Receivers dropped balls or his protection failed.

Locker will be successful in the NFL and the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans Provide a Good Environment

This is not a knock on Jeff Fisher, but Mike Munchak is a good head coach for Jake Locker to come into the league under.

Owner Bud Adams may have his faults, but the Titans are a very solid organization, and with Chris Johnson running the ball, the Titans will not be relying on Locker to carry the offense his rookie season.

The Titans will give Locker the support he needs and Locker has shown he is dedicated enough to make the changes he needs to make to be successful in the NFL.
