As we get closer and closer to the 2011 NFL Draft, many football fans have become familiarized with Patrick Peterson, the top rated cornerback that may enter this year.

The Associated Press has reported that the star defensive player at LSU will announce his decision to declare for the 2011 NFL Draft, forgoing his senior season. Somebody familiar with Peterson's decision has revealed the future star NFL cornerback's decision to announce his declaration for the pro's today.

The person told The Associated Press that they wanted to remain anonymous because Peterson had not intended to release he future plans until Monday.

A media conference has been scheduled at LSU for Peterson's announcement, but no comment has been released by the university regarding his decision.

If this is the truth, then Peterson will most likely be selected within the top three picks now that Stanford's quarterback Andrew Luck has decided to remain a Cardinal for another season.

Peterson has the ability to make an immediate impact in the NFL and will eventually be one of the premiere cornerbacks throughout the league.

Peterson is expected to make his official announcement at 11 AM today, during a press conference being held in the Athletic Administration Building at LSU. Tigers head coach Les Miles will accompany his star player during his decision, while he also has a decision of his own to make soon.

Les Miles has been rumored to be interested in other head coaching jobs, specifically his alma mater Michigan, and is sure to be making his decision clear soon enough. The Times-Picayune has reported that the Michigan spokesman, Dave Ablauf, has said that the school does not comment on any portion of the search process until a new coach is in place.

Luckily for LSU fans, Patrick Peterson is the only Tiger expected to declare early for the 2011 NFL Draft. With Peterson's value being as high as it is, declaring for the draft would definitely be the wisest decision.

With Peterson's decision just hours away, check back for updates surrounding his official announcement.
