MLB Trade Rumors: 10 Teams Who Could Be After Prince Fielder More Than Ever
After the Milwaukee Brewers acquired Zack Greinke, it became much more unlikely that they will look to trade All-Star first baseman Prince Fielder. However, there is a chance he still could be had for the right price, since he is slated to become a free agent after this season.
Fielder could serve as a piece to bring in more players to build around for the future. If the Brewers are not in contention at the trade deadline, they could focus on acquiring players to help them in 2012 and beyond.
Texas Rangers

After missing out on Cliff Lee, the Rangers are going to need to find another way to improve if they want to represent the American League in the World Series again next year.
The Rangers have issues at first base right now. Mitch Moreland may or may not be the answer for the team. If they were able to bring in Fielder, they would immediately solve their issue at first base and would bolster their lineup significantly.
Washington Nationals

Normally, the Nationals would not have been considered players for a player like Prince Fielder.
However, the Nats recently inked Jayson Werth to a long-term deal. They are quickly looking to improve their team, and they should be much better once Bryce Harper arrives in the majors, and Stephen Strasburg recovers from Tommy John surgery. The team also has a gap at first base due to the departure of Adam Dunn.
Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles always attempt to bring in big name players but are never able to do it.
They have some good young prospects that could be traded for Prince Fielder. He would add instant credibility to a team that desperately needs it. The O's could then use the acquisition to show free agents they are committed to putting a winning team on the field.
Chicago Cubs

It would be very unlikely that the Brewers would ship Fielder within the division.
However, the Cubs have been looking for an replacement at first base since they traded Derek Lee to the Braves this season. The Cubs need to make a move to be competitive in the NL Central this year and acquiring Fielder could be it.
New York Mets

Yes, the Mets have Ike Davis at first base.
He is expected to develop into a very good first baseman. However, the Mets offense severely lacks a consistent power presence. Fielder could provide this to the team. Provided the Mets could sign Fielder to an extension, he is a player that could help usher in a new era to Queens.
Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays need to look to replace Carlos Pena. Fielder will be able to provide the power and run production that Pena did in addition to an ability to get on base, which is something that Pena could not do. The Rays also need to respond to the moves made by the Red Sox, and this would help keep them ahead of the Yankees as well.
Oakland Athletics

The Athletics pursued Adam Dunn in an attempt to improve their offense.
Since Dunn did not sign with the A's, they must look someplace else for a slugger. The A's should look to Milwaukee and attempt to acquire Prince Fielder. He split time with Daric Barton at first base, but he could also play DH which would limit his damage as a defensive liability.
Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays have attempted to make moves to improve their team this year.
They tried to get Zack Greinke but failed. They can however make a big move by acquiring Prince Fielder. This would allow them to be competitive in the AL East and potentially make a run for a wild card.
Los Angeles Dodgers

James Loney struggled mightily for the Dodgers last year.
There was even talk about the team looking to trade him or replace him. The Dodgers might have their chance to do this with Prince Fielder. This would help them put together a team that could compete with the World Series Champion San Fransisco Giants.
New York Yankees

Is it really a good idea to ever count the Yankees out on a player of Fielder's caliber?
Yes, it is true they have Mark Teixiera at first base, but they could use Fielder to fill their DH spot. This would be a great way for them to respond to the Red Sox signing Carl Crawford. The Yankees have the talent in their minor league system to acquire Fielder and could look to make a big splash.
