Colt McCoy's past and future are about to collide in an extraordinary way in the coming weeks.
On October 30th, Colt will have his number 12 Texas Longhorn jersey retired, on a day Texas plays in-state rival Baylor.
This Sunday however, Colt will make his first NFL start for the Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh.

McCoy will become the sixth Texas Longhorns football player to have his number retired, joining former Texas legends Earl Campbell, Bobby Layne, Tommy Nobis, Ricky Williams, and Vince Young.
A two-time Walter Camp award winner, Colt McCoy had one of the finest career's ever for a Texas player.
As a senior, McCoy led Texas to a 13-0 record and a narrow Big 12 Championship victory over Nebraska. Texas' next game ended in disappointment for McCoy, who was injured in the Longhorns 37-21 defeat to Alabama in the BCS title game.
McCoy finished his senior season with 3,521 yards passing and 27 touchdowns, while adding 348 rushing yards and three running touchdowns.
Colt holds 47 individual school records, and was selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.
Cleveland's opponent Sunday is one of the best defensive teams in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers. If McCoy is looking for a team to test where he's at as an NFL quarterback, the Steelers are the perfect team.
Loaded everywhere on defense, Pittsburgh is led by safety Troy Polamalu, and linebacker James Harrison.
The Steelers are fast, and physical, and McCoy will need to get rid of the football quickly, or his face will see the turf a lot.
McCoy is an experienced player, and has great fundamentals. There is no doubt he is ready to be the starter for the Browns, a team who hasn't had a reliable starting quarterback in a very long time.
As Colt McCoy ends the final chapter of his legendary college career, he will begin the first chapter of his NFL career, and if he enjoys similar success, there may be hope for Browns fans.
