Catching up on Angel news and notes since the end of their 2010 season.

Bench coach Ron Roenicke has interviewed with the Toronto Blue Jays for their managerial opening. He is scheduled to speak with the Milwaukee Brewers about becoming their skipper as well.

The Angels let the contract of scouting director Eddie Bane expire. Bane is credited with drafting and developing Angels mainstays Jered Weaver and Kendry Morales as well as potential future stars Hank Conger and Mike Trout. Amateur and pro scout Dale Sutherland was also let go as well as long time athletic trainer Ned Bergert.

Mike Scioscia made his triumphant return to the town of Springfield in the Oct. 10 episode of  "The Simpson's."

We learned that the radiation poisoning he suffered in the episode "Homer At The Bat" gave him "super managing powers" as well as the ability to "demagnetize credit cards." While Scioscia's appearance was just a cameo the episode satirized the on going struggle between baseball purists and the sabermatic revolution.

Tim Diekers of MLB Trade Rumors analyzes Mike Napoli's arbitration case here. Napoli is due to for a raise into what could be the six million dollar range up from $3.6 in 2010.  Napoli belted a career high 26 homers and 68 RBI. Unfortunately in the increased playing time (78 more at bats and 26 more games than '09) Napoli only managed four more hits and two more walks.

His on-base percentage fell to .316. Napoli did make him self a more valuable player showing he could handle first base as well as catcher.
