Yankees Trade Rumors: Deal for Berkman “On Verge of Completion”

Updated 5:20 : Here are a couple more pieces. Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News is reporting that a deal is “imminent” and that they aren’t expected to give up any big prospects. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports that the Yankees will not be expected to pick up Berkman’s $15 million 2011 option as part of waiving his NTC.

Updated 5:13: Frankie Piliere of AOL FanHouse is reporting that he’s hearing that Ivan Nova and/or David Adams could be included in a deal for Berkman. But he cautions that he has “nothing solid yet.”

Updated 5:06: Buster Olney of ESPN reports that talks are advancing quickly.

Original article: According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post , the Yankees are “on verge of completion” of a deal that would land them Astros first baseman Lance Berkman .

I guess that means Jorge Posada ‘s knees aren’t that bad and Nick Johnson is definitely not coming back. It also means less playing time for Marcus Thames and Juan Miranda who have been the DH platoon of late.
