Conflict of Interest: Cliff Lee To Pitch Against The New York Yankees Tonight

Anything that doesn't involve LeBron James in sports talk right now has my attention and the Cliff Lee rumors are at the top of that list.

Though it isn't the magnitude of the 1919 World Series, we have a very odd situation brewing in Seattle tonight, and it isn't their coffee.

Cliff Lee is rumored to be headed to the Bronx for Yankees prospect catcher Jesus Montero and possibly second base prospect David Adams as well.

The problem? Cliff Lee faces the New York Yankees tonight.

"Hey Alex, here comes a fastball middle-in, see if you can hit it!"

The scenario almost forces Seattle's hand to start someone else instead of Cliff Lee.

The Yankees are like Double-A catching prospect Austin Romine to replace Jesus Montero in their system as a future replacement of Jorge Posada.

Either way you look at it, adding Cliff Lee to the Yankees rotation would make the team with the best record baseball more lethal then recent memory.

CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee, A.J. Burnett, Andy Pettitte, Phil Hughes, oh my!

Javier Vazquez and Phil Hughes would battle for that fifth spot. It would likely go to Hughes because of his amazing numbers (10-2, 3.83 ERA).

When I think of Cliff Lee, I think of how he dominates the Yankees and what he did during the World Series.  He pitched against the Yankees in Game One just like it was any other game and closed the door on a hot Yankee offense.

Lee, though not as sharp as Game One, pitched the Phillies to their only other win in the series during Game Five.

It nearly cost the Yankees their 27th Championship, as they had to battle back and win the series in six games.

Lee has already faced the Yankees at the Stadium this year, back on June 29. He went nine innings and earned the win.

They can't beat him, so they might as well just sign the guy.
