Well, he's still at AAA Scranton/Wilkes Barre, to be exact.
Right now, the Yankees might want to call AAA to fix their flat team.
The Bombers got bombed by the Rays last night, 10-6 (trailing 10-2 at one point,) and are now just 4-6 in their last 10, dropping to four games out of first.
To make matters worse, Jorge Posada is out three to four weeks with a broken foot, and Marcus Thames sprained his ankle while stepping on his own bat.
The injury bug has certainly caught up to the Yanks early this season. Which, realistically, is the only thing that could prevent them from winning another title.
Are the Rays seriously in first place if the Yankees were full strength? I don't think so.
So, whose the guy that gets the call down on the farm?
Drum roll please...
Chad Moeller! Are you kidding me?!?
This career scrub gets the call over the catching phenom, Jesus Montero?
Granted, Montero hasn't performed to the best of his ability this year, posting mediocre numbers thus far with only three home runs and a .230 batting average. But just look at Francisco Cervelli, he wasn't even hitting .200 when he got called up from AA early last season, now he's hitting .370.
So, why be hesitant towards the guy that is the future catcher of the New York Yankees, why not get him some experience with the big league team now?
He could begin to study some of the pitchers whom he will be catching in the future and Posada has plenty of time on his hands right now to help him.
Montero is young but has all the talent in the world and could, at least, be somewhat of a threat to opposing pitchers with his ability to hit the long ball.
But, I'm sure Chad Moeller can do better.
Here's something to get you excited about Chad, this could be a milestone year for him, he's only one shy of 30 CAREER home runs.
I wonder if the Yankees are going to put up a countdown to 30 for Chad, like A-Rod's countdown to 600?
Maybe someone should suggest this promo to Brian Cashman, or suggest that Montero be on a plane to New York immediately!!!
