How Good Can They Be This Year?
For a team that lost budding offensive talent Anthony Gonzalez last year, you would’ve thought this offense was in trouble. Fortunately the Colts have Peyton Manning and young receivers Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon.
With Collie and Garcon playing respectable football, the Colts' passing game flourished with Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne playing at a pro bowl level.
Now Gonzalez is primed for a comeback, and this offense could be even better upon his return. Unfortunately, Manning has one more option in the passing game to spread the football around too and that means less production for everyone.
Wayne and Clark will be taken high at fantasy drafts this season but could have a bit of a drop in production. Look for Clark to suffer the most as he had a career year last season and probably isn’t likely to repeat those numbers, even if Gonzalez doesn’t return.
Bob Sanders Coming Back
Some thought Bob Sanders might be done as a Colt after another injury kept him out last season. No matter the injury, GM Bill Polian knows that it is still valuable to have the former defensive MVP on the team.
If Sanders is around to make an impact, even part time, it will make this defense that much stronger. Expect the Colts to have a solid defensive season once again.
With that said, their strong play will limit Manning’s fantasy stats as the team won’t need to score a bunch to win football games.
