NFL Rumors: Latest Buzz on Possible Odell Beckham Jr. Trade, Dez Bryant, More

Richard JanvrinMar 29, 2018

Although NFL free agency is dying down, there is never a shortage of rumors surrounding players throughout the league.

Whether it's a potential signing, a trade or a cut, there's always something going on.

However, it's not too often we have three big names to discuss. Let's face it, during this time of year, a lot of the news can pertain to lesser-known players. But not in this edition of NFL rumors.

Giants Up Price for OBJ

Amid the player's desire for a new contract, highlighted in videos that recently surfaced on the internet, the New York Giants seem prepared to trade wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.—but only for the right price.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Giants are seeking two first-round picks for the star receiver. Schefter also noted the team is insisting it is not shopping Beckham, though.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reported the Los Angeles Rams are interested in the wide receiver, and they should be—every team should be.

It's Odell Beckham Jr.

A prime example of a team who should be interested? The Baltimore Ravens.

They need receivers more than probably any team in the NFL. They should try to offer package the No. 16 overall pick with other selections to get the superstar pass-catcher.

Without Beckham, the Giants would definitely be hurting, but they would still have Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard and Roger Lewis and wouldn't need to pay OBJ.

Whatever team gets Beckham would need to pay him, and that will be quite costly. Because of that, maybe the Cleveland Browns reunite Beckham with former LSU teammate Jarvis Landry. They could offer the No. 4 overall pick and a couple of second-rounders for OBJ and would have no problem fitting in his salary.

When it's all said and done, it would be stunning to see Beckham dealt, but we have seen more surprising things happen.

Cowboys to Cut Bryant?

From one NFC East No. 1 receiver to another. According to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports, the Dallas Cowboys will cut wide receiver Dez Bryant after the NFL draft.

Schultz's report was definitive, so the Freezing Cold Takes Twitter account is surely ready to fire this out should the reporter be incorrect.

The Cowboys recently brought in wide receiver Allen Hurns, but it seemed as though he was inexpensive enough to keep Bryant. Perhaps the team simply feels it isn't getting value from Bryant anymore, but it's hard to see how this helps the Cowboys.

Sure, the wide receiver isn't his old dominant self, but he's been working on his routes this offseason, per NFL Network's Jane Slater. And he's still Bryant.

Should Bryant be cut, he would find work almost immediately. Numerous teams need receivers.

Besides the Ravens and Browns, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers could be suitors, or perhaps he could head West to join the San Francisco 49ers bandwagon. Bryant could come fairly cheap on a one-year deal.

Based on Schultz's report, it seems as though the Cowboys could be aiming to draft a receiver early on, so their selections could be quite telling for Bryant's future with the organization.

Patriots Meet with Johnny Manziel

If this move happened, the internet might explode.

According to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald (h/t Jeff Howe of the same publication), the New England Patriots met with quarterback Johnny Manziel following his workout at Texas A&M's Pro Day.

Manziel has also said if he does not receive an NFL offer, he would play in the CFL, per Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

If Manziel were to head to the Patriots, he would obviously be Tom Brady's backup, but he has enough athleticism to perhaps be used in multiple ways. In the Super Bowl, we saw Brady attempt to catch a pass. It didn't end well, but Manziel could be used in peculiar formations like that.

If any team can strap on a rocket ship and improve someone's career prospects, it's the Patriots.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Manziel also met with a "bunch of other teams" as well, but the Patriots will get the headlines.

Based on the league's crop of backup quarterbacks, Manziel could probably earn a spot, but he has a lot of baggage. At just 25, though, he could have one more shot left in him.

The Patriots would make sense as a destination, as they need another quarterback. They have Brian Hoyer, but New England will soon need a replacement for the 40-year-old Brady.

Could that be Manziel? It's a slim chance, but stranger things have happened.
