49ers NFL Draft 2018 Rumors: San Francisco 'High' on WR Marcell Ateman

Oklahoma State wide receiver Marcell Ateman is reportedly climbing up boards heading into the draft combine in Indianapolis, with the San Francisco 49ers among the teams interested.

Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com reported the 49ers are "high" on Ateman, who recorded 59 receptions for 1,156 yards and eight touchdowns during his senior season.

Ateman, listed at 6'4" and 220 pounds, has prototypical size and was a big-play threat for the Cowboys.

"I just know my game. I know who I am as a person and what I can bring to any team," Ateman told KVTV News (h/t Diehards.com). I know, me personally, I'm a first-round pick. It don't matter to me where I go. If I'm first [round]. If I'm third. If I'm fifth. If I'm undrafted. I'm going to perform whatever team I get to. That's just my mentality, and that's just who I am. So I can't even look at how people judge me. But whenever I step on that field, my game is going to speak for itself."

The 49ers are in desperate need of wide receiver help. Marquise Goodwin was the only wideout on the roster with more than 500 yards in 2017, and the 49ers will assuredly look to target playmakers for the newly signed Jimmy Garoppolo.

Pauline's report indicates Ateman could slide into the first 45 picks with a strong showing at the combine. The 49ers will pick either No. 9 or No. 10 in the first round and have pick No. 59 in the second round. If Ateman does soar up draft boards, it's likely the 49ers would have to trade up in the second to draft him or take a major risk on him in the top 10.

No major outlet has Ateman anywhere near the top 10 at this time.
