Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick

OddsShark.comNov 30, 2016

The Miami Dolphins will be looking to continue their surprising drive toward a playoff berth with a seventh straight victory Sunday when they take on the AFC North-leading Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.

The 7-4 Dolphins have stormed into playoff contention with six consecutive straight-up wins, including three outright victories as betting underdogs. Miami is also unbeaten against the spread during that stretch, which includes a pair of SU and ATS road wins.

The 6-5 Ravens are coming off an important 19-14 win over the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals, covering as 3.5-point home chalk. Baltimore is now unbeaten in three straight at home, both SU and ATS.

Point spread: The Ravens opened as 3.5-point favorites; the total was 41.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).

NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 21.6-20.6 Ravens (NFL picks on every game)

Why the Dolphins can cover the spread

The Dolphins offense has exceeded expectations during its current tear, averaging 26.8 points per game. Miami has also cracked 30 points on four occasions this season, covering in three of those outings.

Turnovers have played a key role in the Dolphins' recent surge. Miami has forced 11 total turnovers over its past six games while giving up the ball just twice during that stretch.

The Ravens are a dismal 2-6 SU in their past eight overall against teams with winning records. Baltimore has also been a shaky bet at home, posting a 5-11 ATS record over their past 16 games.

Why the Ravens can cover the spread

The Ravens have been defensive beasts on their home turf this season, holding opponents to 14.3 points per game and twice to just seven points. Opponents have also managed to score just 10 total first-half points in Baltimore's past three home dates.

While the Dolphins have been finding ways to win, they have been outgained in each of their past four games. Miami has surrendered over 100 yards on the ground in three of four games, creating an opportunity for Ravens rushers, who have averaged 104 yards per game over their past three.

Miami has struggled to follow up on recent success, going 1-5 SU and ATS in its last six road games immediately following a road victory.

Smart pick

Miami posted a 15-13 win as three-point home chalk in its most recent meeting with the Ravens last season. Baltimore has otherwise dominated head-to-head against the Dolphins, posting outright victories in four of the previous five games and covering in the past five.

Look for the Ravens to halt Miami's SU win streak but struggle to cover in yet another low-scoring contest on home turf.

Betting trends

The Dolphins are 1-5 SU and 0-6 ATS in their last six games against the Ravens.

The total has gone under in four of the Dolphins' last five games against the Ravens.

The total has gone under in nine of the Ravens' last 11 games at home.
