Brady Close to Joining 4 Other Quarterbacks with 60,000 Passing Yards

Bleacher Report MilestonesNov 16, 2016

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will enter Sunday's matchup with the San Francisco 49ers just 337 passing yards short of 60,000 for his career, per NFL.com.

Only four other quarterbacks have previously surpassed that total: Peyton Manning (71,940), Brett Favre (71,838), Drew Brees (63,894) and Dan Marino (61,361). Each of the three retired signal-callers on this list is either in the Hall of Fame or bound for induction.

Brady—who has 59,663 passing yards in his careerand Brees are both locks to join their retired brethren in Canton when they decide to call it a career. Not only does Brady have stats to match some of the greats, but he also has four Super Bowl rings and three Super Bowl MVPs working in his favor.

The star quarterback would have already passed the mark in 2016 if not for his four-game suspension at the start of the season. However, the extra time off didn't impact Brady's game much.

Despite turning 39 in August, Brady has posted a would-be career-high 125.5 quarterback rating through his five games this season. He's tossed 12 touchdown passes to just one interception and has averaged 327 yards passing per contest over that span.

While the Patriots may have Brady's successorJimmy Garoppolowaiting in the wings, the team belongs to the veteran until he's done. He has a chance to add to his legacy again this season, with ESPN.com (via Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook) listing New England as the 7-5 favorite to take home the Lombardi Trophy.
