2017 NFL Mock Draft: Post-Week 8 Round 1 Predictions for All Prospects
Another week in the books, another loss for the Cleveland Browns, who continue to cling to the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
The competition behind the Browns grew even smaller on Sunday, as the Carolina Panthers picked up their second win of the season, leaving the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears as the only one-win teams in the NFL.
Other than two small groups at the top and bottom of the league, the draft order mostly remains a jumbled mess. Every team from the sixth pick through the 23rd pick has three or four victories.

1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M

The Cleveland Browns need a quarterback, but can they afford to bring one aboard behind one of the worst offensive lines in recent NFL history?
The Browns' inability to protect the quarterback has contributed to their need to use six different quarterbacks this season, including two rookies (Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan) and a wide receiver (Terrelle Pryor).
Unless the Browns believe there is an absolute can't-miss prospect on the board, it probably isn't worth trying to develop a quarterback until the rest of the roster has been built up.
The safer move to facilitate the rebuilding process may be to simply snag the best available player, which will likely be Texas A&M defensive lineman Myles Garrett.
Pro Football Focus recently named Garrett the top prospect in the draft, noting that he has graded out as the most efficient pass-rusher in the nation this season in college football.
19. Pittsburgh Steelers: Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA

UCLA defensive lineman Takkarist McKinley has been one of the fastest-rising prospects this season.
ESPN.com's Mel Kiper Jr. called attention to his rising stock this week by placing him at No. 9 overall on his latest big board. Kiper specifically praised his explosive quickness and his motor as a pass-rusher.
McKinley, a former JUCO transfer from Contra Costa College, has already racked up seven sacks and 14 tackles for loss this season, nearly doubling his totals in each category from the 2015 season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled to generate a consistent pass rush this season and will likely be one of the teams interested in McKinley on draft day.
The Steelers have generated just eight sacks as a team this year, led by lineman Cameron Heyward with three. Pittsburgh's defense has been at its best in recent years when its front seven has featured a serious pass-rush threat, a role previously filled for many seasons by James Harrison.
21. New York Giants: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

Eli Manning is still under contract through the 2019 season, but it's time for the Giants to start thinking about the future at quarterback.
Manning will turn 36 in January, and his declining play in recent years raises some doubts about his ability to remain effective through the end of his contract.
Deshaun Watson is in the midst of a roller-coaster season for the Clemson Tigers, but his NFL tools remain apparent. Kiper praised his arm strength and touch but acknowledged his high interception totals are concerning.
The Giants would be an ideal landing spot for Watson, who clearly still needs time to develop his raw tools. In New York, Watson would have time to sit and learn behind Manning before eventually taking over when the Giants decide to part ways with their franchise quarterback.
