Week 8 NFL Picks: Odds, Prop Bets and Predictions for Sunday's Schedule
The NFL regular season is nearly halfway over, but clarity regarding which teams are contenders and pretenders remains elusive.
With this week's slate, there isn't a single game that opened with a spread higher than six points, according to Odds Shark.
However, there's a slew of intriguing games on the board as kickoff approaches.

Prediction: Seahawks-Saints Over Hits
The Seattle Seahawks have one of the NFL's most physically imposing defenses, but the New Orleans Saints have been on fire in the scoring column at home this season.
The Saints rank second among all teams with a home scoring average of 35.7 points per game thanks to an offense that boasts Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks, Michael Thomas, Coby Fleener and a slew of weapons who have torched defenses at the Superdome.
According to Rotoworld's Evan Silva, the Saints are in a prime spot to erupt again:
While the Seahawks rank 31st overall in road scoring with 12.0 points per game, they're in position to break out of their slump away from home following a 6-6 tie against the Arizona Cardinals.
Even though quarterback Russell Wilson hasn't been right this season and the Seahawks offense has failed to click in a way that engenders optimism, the Saints rank dead last in scoring defense, allowing 32.5 points per game.
Not only that, New Orleans is also allowing a league-worst 39.3 points per game at home—seven points worse than the 31st-ranked Atlanta Falcons.
In a game that could see both teams flirt with 30 points, the over should be an attractive option for prospective bettors.
Prediction: Raiders Defeat Bucs
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are riding a two-game winning streak following triumphs over the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers, but a visit from the Oakland Raiders stands to derail the team's prosperous run.
Beyond the fact that Tampa Bay is 0-2 at home this season, Oakland is 4-0 on the road, including wins over the Saints, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars.
In fact, Oakland has been so impressive away from the Bay Area that Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter implored the Tampa Bay faithful on the Buccaneers Radio Network (via JoeBucsFan.com) not to sell their tickets to traveling Raiders fans:
"We as a team have to do our part, making RayJay a place that opposing teams don’t want to play. So we need the crowd’s help on that. We do our part; we got to play better at home. The other thing is, we got to keep the opposing fans out of the lower bowl. I mean, let’s keep those Raiders jerseys out.
"
With Sunday's game set as a pick'em and the Bucs in possession of a 13th-ranked pass defense that could be susceptible to big plays against Derek Carr, Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, Oakland should be a trendy pick, given its recent track record of success.
