Washington Redskins vs. Cincinnati Bengals Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick

OddsShark.comOct 25, 2016

The Washington Redskins (4-3) saw their four-game winning streak end last week on the road against the Detroit Lions, and they will travel much farther this week when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) in London as underdogs on the NFL point spreads.

The Redskins have lost the past three meetings with the Bengals both straight up and against the spread, but they have thrived lately in the underdog role.

Point spread: The Bengals opened as 2.5-point favorites; the total was 45.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).

Why the Redskins can cover the spread

Washington has been outstanding as an underdog over the last two seasons, going 8-1 SU and ATS in its last nine games under that scenario. The Redskins closed as one-point favorites against the Lions before falling 20-17 and experiencing their first road loss in three games away from home this year.

Regardless, this team remains competitive and has still played much better overall since suffering its season-opening home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a Monday night, going 4-1 SU and ATS in the last five games overall.

Why the Bengals can cover the spread

Cincinnati flexed its muscles a bit last week in a 31-17 victory against the Cleveland Browns, covering the spread as 11-point home favorites after going 1-4-1 ATS in its first six games. But does that mean the Bengals have woken up and will start playing up to their potential?

With quarterback Ben Roethlisberger out for an extended period of time for the AFC North-leading Steelers, the Bengals have a great opportunity to seize control of the division as long as they keep winning. The Steelers and Baltimore Ravens are also both on byes this week, making this a critical game to win for Cincy.

Smart pick

The Bengals and Redskins have been hard to figure out this year, with each playing well at times and looking bad in other games. Cincinnati has been the more inconsistent of the two recently, though, going 0-5 SU in its last five games off a victory.

Washington is 5-1 SU and ATS in its previous six on the road and will be able to bounce back from that tough loss at Detroit with a win at Wembley Stadium and at sports betting sites.

Betting trends

The Redskins are 0-3 SU and ATS in their last three games against the Bengals.

The Bengals are 0-5 SU in their last five games after a win.

The Redskins are 8-1 SU and ATS in their last nine games as underdogs.
