Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups: Sleepers Available in Majority of Fantasy Leagues
When it comes to the fantasy football waiver wire, there is no such thing as preparing too much.
This is especially true as the halfway point of the season approaches. With big names such as San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi continuing to emerge, those who skimp can miss on surefire starters.
Seeking advice in relentless fashion applies to those performing well, too. Injuries play a role here, with names such as Ben Roethlisberger, LeSean McCoy and Odell Beckham Jr. all suffering issues at one point during Week 6.
Call it an all-inclusive aspect of the fantasy realm. No matter a specific owner's needs, here are a few names to pursue on the wire.

Landry Jones, QB, PIT (1.2 percent owned)
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the team won't have Roethlisberger in Week 7 due to injury, which creates a rather large boon for those in need at the position.
Landry Jones gets control of the offense as a result, and it's hard not to love someone who gets to lead an offense featuring Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell. Even better, the Week 7 matchup comes against the New England Patriots in a game in which Jones should see plenty of passing opportunities if and when the Steelers fall behind.
Jones was as unpredictable as it gets last year in spot duty, tossing two scores in one game on all of 12 attempts and in another throwing two interceptions on four attempts.
Owners shouldn't get discouraged, though. This will be only his second season receiving playing time, and the Pittsburgh offense is friendly in the sense that all he has to do is get the ball to Brown and others on high-percentage passes and let them do the heavy lifting.
Those in need of a streaming option certainly have one with Jones.
Knile Davis, RB, GB (19.1 percent owned)
Those who tuned the NFL out for a day or so might seem confused about this one—according to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star, the Kansas City Chiefs shipped backup running back Knile Davis to the Green Bay Packers Tuesday.
The fact Davis was a backup shouldn't scare owners. It tends to happen on a depth chart also featuring Jamaal Charles and Spencer Ware.
Besides, Davis shoots right to the top in Green Bay, where he'll spar with or take carries outright from Eddie Lacy. He sounds quite pleased about the development, per the team:
Owners should share the same enthusiasm. Davis has never blown away with his numbers, but he's an explosive back with 11 touchdowns on 233 attempts. He's a big-play threat every time he touches the ball, but Kansas City didn't give him a ton of chances.
Now Davis gets to go at it while defenses worry about Aaron Rodgers, not Alex Smith. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Lacy could miss several weeks with an ankle injury, making Davis the lead back against the miserable Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football.
In the blink of an eye, Davis became one of the best waiver adds of the year.
Zach Zenner, RB, DET (1.9 percent owned)
Zach Zenner led the Detroit Lions in rushing in Week 6 during a win against the Los Angeles Rams.
Who? Zenner, a South Dakota State product, benefited from ankle injuries to Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington. The team added veteran Justin Forsett, but he received all of five carries while learning the playbook.
Knowing how tricky ankle injuries can be and how complex NFL playbooks are, Zenner looks like a good grab after he took 14 carries for 58 yards and caught both of his targets through the air.
Most important of all, though, is an observation by PFF Fantasy Football:
The Lions won't find it easy to ignore such production even when bigger names return. At the least, Week 7 looks good for Zenner as he gets to take on a Washington Redskins defense allowing the seventh-most points to backs on average.
C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE, HOU (3.9 percent owned)
Houston Texans tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz is another guy most might not know about on sight, but he's slowly earning his way into such a status.
Fiedorowicz continues to emerge as one of the top threats in Houston, with struggling quarterback Brock Osweiler looking his way at a consistent clip.
Over his last three outings, Fiedorowicz has received a minimum of five targets per game and turned them into a minimum of 48 yards in each while scoring two total touchdowns. In the fantasy realm, it means he's scored at least 10 points in two of his last three.
A huge target at 6'5", 265 pounds, it seems Fiedorowicz's budding rapport with Osweiler makes for a nice floor at a critical position. Given that the strength of defenses he's faced has been all over the place so far, Fiedorowicz is a smooth add to trot out regardless of matchup as long as the usage remains.
