Brandon Marshall, Chris Harris Jr. Comment on Facing Brock Osweiler in Week 7
Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall and cornerback Chris Harris Jr. are both counting down the days until they face off with former teammate Brock Osweiler on Monday night.
"There's no ill will toward Brock," Marshall said of the Houston Texans quarterback, according to Troy E. Renck of Denver7. "I am happy he got paid. But it's competition. We want to kill him."
Harris is hoping to capitalize on Osweiler's aggressive, turnover-prone style: "He's a gunslinger. He's also forcing a lot of throws. We know that he left us. It's going to be great. I am pretty sure that he wants to win, and we want to beat him bad and get a lot of interceptions."
Osweiler opted against re-signing with the Broncos in the offseason, instead joining the Texans for four years and $72 million—$37 million of which was guaranteed.
In six starts this year, the 25-year-old has 1,402 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. He's 29th in DYAR (defense-adjusted yards above replacement) among 31 qualified QBs on Football Outsiders.
ESPN's Trey Wingo doesn't think Osweiler is providing much value for the money:
NBCSN's Ross Tucker also criticized his decision-making:
Although the Broncos only have five interceptions—tied for 10th—they're allowing a league-best 182.3 passing yards per game.
Osweiler can silence some of his critics with a strong performance. Should he struggle, though, the pressure on him will continue to grow, and it will increasingly appear Denver dodged a bullet when he left for the Texans.
