Broncos vs. Bengals: Score and Twitter Reaction from 2016 Regular Season

The Denver Broncos remain unbeaten (3-0) after going on the road and picking up a 29-17 win Sunday over the Cincinnati Bengals (1-2) in Paul Brown Stadium.

Trevor Siemian had the best game of his young NFL career, throwing for 312 yards and four touchdowns on 23-of-35 passing. Both Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas eclipsed the century mark, with the former catching nine passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns and the latter hitting an even 100 yards and one touchdown on six receptions.

On the other sideline, the Bengals offense couldn't fire on all cylinders. Andy Dalton threw for 206 yards and one interception, and A.J. Green was largely a non-factor for a second week in a row. He caught eight passes for 77 yards.

The Broncos led 16-14 after an evenly matched first half. However, the teams had differing fortunes on the offensive side of the ball.

Siemian was 13-of-24 for 144 yards and two touchdowns, but C.J. Anderson ran for just 21 yards on eight carries. Dalton attempted only eight passes, gaining 63 yards through the air. The bulk of Cincinnati's offense came through Jeremy Hill, who ran for 85 yards and two TDs on 11 carries.

Hill drew first blood at the 11:07 mark of the first quarter on a three-yard touchdown run. Prior to the score, the third-year running back showed off his wheels, running for 50 yards to set the Bengals up near the goal line, courtesy of the NFL:

Denver then answered back with 10 points. Brandon McManus connected on a 20-yard field goal with a little over four minutes left in the first quarter, and Sanders recorded a 41-yard touchdown reception 1:03 into the second quarter to put the Broncos up by three points, 10-7.

Siemian lofted his pass over the Cincinnati secondary and hit Sanders perfectly in stride in the end zone. It was the kind of downfield throw NFL Network's Rich Eisen thought the Pittsburgh Steelers failed to execute in their Week 2 win over the Bengals:

Hill added his second touchdown with 4:57 remaining before halftime to put the Bengals back in the lead 14-10. Through his first two games, Hill rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy football owners who started the 23-year-old:

The Broncos regained the lead 28 seconds before halftime. Siemian and Sanders hooked up for a seven-yard touchdown reception, but Bengals defensive end Margus Hunt blocked McManus' extra-point attempt to keep the deficit at two points.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Bengals hit a 34-yard field goal eight seconds into the fourth to go ahead 17-16. The field goal capped off a 15-play, 60-yard drive that ate 8:14 off the clock.

Siemian's third touchdown of the day put the Broncos on top with a little under seven minutes left in the game. John Phillips was on the receiving end, which NFL Fantasy Football thought was a little underwhelming:

Siemian didn't look great in Denver's opening-week victory over the Carolina Panthers, but he appears to be growing into the starting role. He made a few mistakes Sunday and could easily have had an interception or two in his box score if Bengals defenders hadn't dropped easy picks.

Given their defensive strength, the Broncos don't need Siemian to throw for 300-plus yards every game, though it would obviously be a nice luxury. The fact that the second-year QB is so quickly adapting to the NFL is a great sign going forward.

Denver didn't have a favorable schedule to start the 2016 season, facing off against two division winners from 2015 and an Indianapolis Colts team with a healthy Andrew Luck. Broncos fans can have few complaints about the way the team has begun this year.

The Bengals, on the other hand, could be in a bit more trouble after failing two big tests in successive weeks. Although neither the Broncos nor the Pittsburgh Steelers thoroughly outplayed Cincinnati, Marvin Lewis' team failed to deliver in the biggest moments.

The Bengals have the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys over the next two weeks before facing off with the New England Patriots on Oct. 16. Those games are both winnable for Cincinnati, and a 3-2 record heading into Week 6 would help restore some confidence in the fanbase before the reigning AFC North champions are again matched up against one of the NFL's best.

Postgame Reaction

"It wasn't frustration," Thomas said of his and Sanders' early struggles this year, per the Denver Post's Nicki Jhabvala. "We just know what we're capable of doing on the field. I think we're the best that does it, as a one-two punch. I think we're the best in the game, and we showed it today."

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak was pleased with what he saw from Siemian, per Jhabvala: "It was a great outing. I don't think you get too carried away—but we know we have a good young quarterback who's on a good team, and this was a great sign today. He came into a tough environment, handled himself very well and played big."

Green acknowledged he had a bad day at the office.

"I'm ready to get back to practice after my performance today," he said, per the Cincinnati Enquirer's Jim Owczarski. "It was not my best. Have to clean up some stuff. Can't have a drop like that. Like I said, this offense runs through me. I've got to do better."
