Fantasy Football Week 10: Weekly Fantasy Trends Report

Richard JanvrinNov 10, 2016

In the wake of Donald Trump being elected our next president, we look ahead to Week 10 of the fantasy football season.

Right now, it may be difficult to imagine that there is a week of football coming up, but here it is!

Consolation prize: The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens play on Thursday Night Football.

I cannot believe it, but we have talks of kickers in this slideshow.

But first, let's address the Denver Broncos backfield—lots of teams favor an unlikely candidate.

Broncos RB Kapri Bibbs Among Top Adds

1 of 7

This is not a surprising transaction made by fantasy owners.

On Yahoo, Broncos running back Kapri Bibbs has been added in nearly 200,000 leagues.

As Mike Klis of 9News reported, we could see a shift in power in the Broncos backfield from incumbent starter Devontae Booker to Bibbs against the New Orleans Saints in Week 10.

Bibbs is in the RB2 territory this week should he get the first look against a feeble Saints defense.

Jaguars RB Chris Ivory Sees 11 Percent Increase in Ownership

2 of 7

In his first week as the new offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, we looked to Nathaniel Hackett to see what he would do in regards to the backfield.

Turns out he favors running back Chris Ivory.

For now.

In Week 9, Ivory saw 18 carries and went over 100 yards.

If this trend of using Ivory continues under Hackett and this new Jaguars offense, adding Ivory is a no-brainer.

Owned in less than 50 percent of leagues, you're potentially getting an RB2 moving forward. Go get him.

Ravens D/ST Lead Add Before Browns Matchup

3 of 7

In the wake of completely manhandling the Pittsburgh Steelers at home in Week 9, it should come as no surprise that the Ravens defense is the lead add (in Yahoo leagues) prior to a matchup with the Browns.

Oddly enough, the Browns do better on the road on a points-per-game basis, scoring 19.4 as opposed to 17.8 at home, per TeamRankings.com.

This Browns offense has some weapons that could make this transaction look fairly average given how heavily admired it appears to be.

The Browns have quarterback Cody Kessler, who's making plays in his rookie season. At wide receiver, they have Corey Coleman and Terrelle Pryor, and they have another pass-catcher at tight end in Gary Barnidge. Add in the running back depth of Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson Jr., and you have a decent offense.

If the Ravens continue the defensive effort they showed in Week 9, this will look like a genius move. However, if the Browns come to play and their skill-position players perform well, it could just be another average defensive play.

Keep that in mind as you look to stream a defense in Week 10—short weeks are always dangerous to some degree!

Going out on a Limb: Claim Bears QB Jay Cutler

4 of 7

To this point, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has done nothing to warrant a claim. Heck, he has just two touchdown passes in three starts. However, his schedule down the stretch is worth noting. During the remainder of the season, he'll take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers in Weeks 10, 13, 14 and 15, respectively.

Of course, you may have better options, and that is definitely OK.

In Week 10, we have four of the top eight fantasy quarterbacks on bye, so chances are you need—at a minimum—an add for this week at quarterback.

The Buccaneers give up nearly 300 passing yards per game. It'll be frightening to expect anything from Cutler, but if we can get 250 yards passing and two touchdowns, let's consider that a success.

Like a Blockbuster Video: Chiefs RB Charcandrick West Dropped a Week Later

5 of 7

After presuming the starting role because of injuries to other running backs and being heavily added leading up to Week 9, Kansas City Chiefs running back Charcandrick West has been dropped by over 165,000 teams with news of fellow running back Spencer Ware likely to return in Week 10.

According to BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official website, Ware has passed the concussion protocol.

We knew going into Week 9 that West was merely a rental, so this is definitely not a surprise, though he still has some value as a handcuff.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri Being Dropped...Why?

6 of 7

In general, I understand streaming kickers, but Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri is the exception.

This season, Vinatieri is second in fantasy points among all kickers, trailing Atlanta Falcons kicker Matt Bryant.

To put that in perspective, Vinatieri has more fantasy points than New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Roster spots can get tight—I get that—but try to find a way to weather the storm during Vinatieri's bye week in Week 10.

Rams RB Todd Gurley Most Traded Player

7 of 7

The Los Angeles Rams are an incredibly frustrating organization.

Not only for the way they've handled this whole dilemma surrounding quarterback Jared Goff, but running back Todd Gurley's ineffectiveness and lack of usage.

Fortunately, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher addressed Gurley's usage and said that he needs more carries, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.

This season, Gurley has over 20 carries in just two games and has not topped 85 rushing yards in a single game.

Gurley is the RB19 right now in points-per-reception leagues, but to those who drafted him, that simply isn't good enough.

Trading him makes sense right now, but you're not going to get nearly what you originally paid for him on draft day.

With that said, maybe he'll have a strong second half after Fisher has acknowledged the need to get him more carries.
