Fantasy Football Week 4: Friday's Daily Fantasy Market Report
My lord. Was Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green a fantasy football beast on Thursday Night Football or what?
Hopefully we have similar success with our DFS picks this weekend.
Welcome to the final Market Report for the week that should assist you in making some crucial DFS decisions.
Not only are there conundrums when it comes to certain matchups, but there are a few notable injuries that can impact the players around them.
There are eight pieces of news here with insight into what you should do this weekend in order to win some money.
And, of course, there are a couple of bad jokes.
Cowboys WR Dez Bryant Out?
1 of 8
After disappearing for a couple of days, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has been located, thus ending (what I'm going to call) MRIgate.
When it comes to Bryant's knee, he is injured (terrible Maury Povich reference).
Anyway, it has been reported that Bryant did indeed suffer a hairline fracture to his knee on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears, which immediately casted some doubt as to the Oklahoma State product's availability for Week 4.
Well, we may have some answers.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Bryant is unlikely to play against San Francisco in Week 4. Come on now, did anyone actually think he would suit up? It's a fracture for crying out loud.
With Bryant's absence, the projected No. 1 wide receiver is Terrance Williams, but he's not who should be targeted.
Yes, I'm going with Cole Beasley ($3,900 DraftKings; $5,200 FanDuel).
In season-long leagues, Beasley ranks as the WR29 in points-per-reception (PPR) leagues. On sites like DraftKings where you get points for receptions, his WR29 value should carry over against a, uh, bad 49ers squad.
Giants RB Rashad Jennings Unlikely to Play
2 of 8
It's another potential Monday Night Football lineup issue in the NFL. The fun never stops.
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings is "unlikely" to suit up against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4.
With fellow running back Shane Vereen out for the foreseeable future and Jennings quite possibly being out, we will now turn to rookie running back Paul Perkins.
No, I'm not listening to this Orleans Darkwa ramble—not happening.
Perkins has yet to play an offensive snap and will be going up against quite possibly the best defense in the league, so neither Perkins or Darkwa are in a good spot here.
Stay away from all these fellas in DFS.
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson Says 'No Doubt' He'll Play
3 of 8
Mr. Tough Guy alert.
According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has said there is "no doubt" he'll pay in Week 4 against the New York Jets.
While I admire Wilson's work ethic and desire, he hasn't been all that great so far; he's thrown just two touchdowns through three games.
With two gimpy ankles, Wilson's rushing ability will be impacted, for sure.
Going up against the Jets, I'm a fan of Seahawks running back Christine Michael ($6,000 DK; $7,500 FD) this week. He should get a modest workload.
Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart Ruled out
4 of 8
No surprise here: Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons.
According to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, Panthers head coach Ron Rivera has said that the veteran could be out for up to four weeks.
In Week 3, the Panthers' rushing attack consisting of Cameron Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whittaker was stymied against the ferocious Minnesota Vikings defense.
Although they get an easier matchup in Week 4, it's just too hard to get overly excited about either of these backs.
I'd stay away, but they will have low ownership.
Bears QB Jay Cutler DNP Thursday
5 of 8
It looks like the Chicago Bears will roll with quarterback Brian Hoyer again this week.
According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com, fellow Bears quarterback Jay Cutler did not practice Thursday.
Again, we weren't expecting Cutler back for a couple of weeks after the injury, but there was a sense that he could possibly return against the Detroit Lions in Week 4.
Going up against the Lions, Hoyer will need to throw to keep pace with their quarterback Matthew Stafford. In Week 3, Hoyer threw 49 times for over 300 yards and two touchdowns. He was at least competent.
For the Bears, I'm going to be on tight end Zach Miller ($2,700 DK; $5,000 FD) and possibly wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.
Miller looked like Hoyer's No. 1 go-to option, catching both of Hoyer's touchdown throws.
Go after Miller this week.
Bills Hopeful WR Sammy Watkins Will Travel to New England
6 of 8
This is getting ridiculous at this point. Why don't the Buffalo Bills just sit wide receiver Sammy Watkins for a few weeks and end this nonsense?
Yeah, I'm being mad online.
According to Mike Rodak of ESPN.com, Watkins did not practice Friday due to a foot injury, but the team is "hopeful" he'll travel with the team to take on the New England Patriots.
At this point it's best to sit him for a couple of weeks and stop the madness.
And, oh yeah, no, I don't care for any Bills receivers this week—including Watkins if he plays—but running back LeSean McCoy ($6,700 DK; $7,600 FD) is intriguing.
The Patriots shut the Houston Texans out in Week 3—they'll handle the Bills, too.
Lions WR Golden Tate to See More Targets?
7 of 8
Here's some interesting news.
According to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter has said that wide receiver Golden Tate ($5,800 DK; $6,200 FD) will see more targets go forward.
While Tate is on pace for 112 targets, he ranks 34th in the league with 21. Although this news is fascinating, the targets are not exactly the concern, but more so the 7.9 yards per catch.
Tate is used plenty around the line of scrimmage, limiting his potential for big-time plays.
It's nice to see Cooter mention Tate specifically, as he has haunted fantasy owners across all formats, but fellow wide receiver Marvin Jones is the man to roster.
However, going up against the Bears and a projected low ownership, Tate makes for a decent guaranteed prize pool play with his decreasing price tag.
Jets HC Todd Bowels to 'Make Sure' WR Brandon Marshall Is Targeted
8 of 8
It was a weird day: Two NFL coaches came out saying a certain receiver will see more targets.
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles has said that he'll "make sure" wide receiver Brandon Marshall ($7,000 DK; $7,500 FD) gets the ball in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Again, cool idea, but this is a tough game regardless of targets going up against the Seahawks and their deadly defense.
If you'll recall, Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw six interceptions in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have a good defense, sure, but the Seahawks are even better and they're at home.
Don't be too confident in the Jets' skill position players at Seattle.
