Fantasy Football Week 4: Wednesday's Daily Fantasy Market Report

Richard JanvrinSep 28, 2016

We are just a little over a day away from the start of Week 4 in the NFL and another week of fantasy football.

On tap for Thursday will be the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals. In other words, another "highly competitive" Thursday Night Football game. After the Dolphins struggled with the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, the Bengals' new opponent should be a much easier test than the Denver Broncos.  It should be a doozy with the Bengals winning.

Besides that, there are seven news items to get to.

But before we start, this is my first article since the passing of Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jose Fernandez, so I wanted to take a moment to remember him.

Wherever you may be, Rest in Paradise, Mr. Fernandez.

I'll miss watching you pitch. We all will.

Cowboys WR Dez Bryant to Have MRI

1 of 7

After injuring his knee in the Dallas Cowboys shellacking of the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is headed for an MRI, according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

While an MRI may sound scary, we should expect Bryant to suit up regardless. After injuring his knee, Bryant came back into the game and scored a touchdown, so it can't be all bad.

However, with rookie quarterback Dak Prescott, it's hard to get excited about Bryant for fantasy. From a season-long standpoint, he's ranked No. 47 among all receivers in 2016.

Yes, he had a 100-yard game in Week 2. Other than that, Bryant leaves a lot to be desired without quarterback Tony Romo under center.

With that said, Bryant still has a decent chance for a good game with Prescott—they're playing the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4.

Here Comes Giants Rookie RB Paul Perkins

2 of 7

With New York Giants running back Shane Vereen out for the foreseeable future, the Giants will turn to a committee that includes rookie running back Paul Perkins, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

To this point, Perkins hasn't played an offensive snap, only getting action on special teams. But fortunately, pass-catching is a known element of Perkins' game, making him a suitable replacement for Vereen's role.

In Week 4, with zero offensive snaps under his belt, it's best to wait and see how Perkins will be utilized. In the future, he has a chance to be an intriguing weekly play.

Bengals TE Tyler Eifert Likely a No Go on Thursday Night

3 of 7

After catching 13 touchdown passes in 2015, we have yet to see Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert in 2016.

Well, it appears we'll have to wait even longer—at least through Week 4, according to Bob Holtzman of ESPN.

In his absence, we'll continue to see fellow tight ends C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Kroft.

With Week 4 being a short week and the team playing on Thursday, it was wishful thinking to assume Eifert would play.

Week 5 is probably where we're at with Eifert.

Don't use Uzomah or Kroft this week.

Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo to Play in Week 4?

4 of 7

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, the New England Patriots are hopeful that both Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett will be healthy enough to quarterback the team in Week 4.

I say give them another week off—we all want to see Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman play quarterback, damnit.

Anyways, if Garoppolo plays, he's worth a shot in DFS this week. He lit up the Miami Dolphins in Week 2, and in Week 4 he'll take on the Buffalo Bills.

Yes, the Bills decimated the Arizona Cardinals and Carson Palmer in Week 3, but they are a team that is known to play well at home. In Foxboro, though? No way they win this game.

If he suits up, Jimmy G is a lock for at least 250 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

Never. Count. Out. Patriots. Head. Coach. Bill. Belichick.

Dolphins RB Arian Foster Unlikey to Play

5 of 7

No surprise here: Miami Dolphins running back Arian Foster is unlikely to play in Week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.

I don't believe anyone expected Foster would suit up for this one given his groin injury.

Same plan as Week 3—it's all on fellow running backs Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake.

Got to admit—I'm not too fond of either back on Thursday Night Football in Week 4.

Million Dollar Question: Will Bills WR Sammy Watkins Play in Week 4?

6 of 7

This is starting to become a pain in the you-know-what.

Sometime this week, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins will test his foot to see if it's okay. That will determine whether or not he plays in Week 4, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Facing off against the New England Patriots, you know Bills head coach Rex Ryan wants him to suit up.

But even if Watkins does play, we still don't know how much that will be.

Watkins is a concern for too many reasons right now, and I'd wait before playing him.

Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell Is Back

7 of 7

After serving his three-game suspension, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell is back and set to play in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Not only will he play, but we should expect "a lot" of Bell, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Bell is well-rested and ready to roll. He should have himself a nice week.

I'm definitely rostering him this week and so should you—I feel sorry for the Chiefs.
