The Top NFL Style Icons in the Game Right Now

Giancarlo Ferrari-KingAug 17, 2016

The National Football League is a place where style really comes to life. Postgame pressers and offseason appearances have become go-to spots for athletes to express their fashionable endeavors to the rest of the world.

We're currently living in an era of expensive taste and social media. The combination gives us an all-access pass into the closets of some of the NFL's best. Peeping through mammoth channels of fashion, here are the current top style icons in the NFL.

Odell Beckham Jr.

1 of 10

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't strictly bring flash to the football field. He also happens to be a pretty fashionable dude.

Beckham's social media accounts are littered with declarations of fashion. He sports upscale labels like Amiri, and is able to blend expensive denim cuts with more of athletic look as well. His style has no limits.

National Football League money gives athletes the access and influence to a world of outstanding designers. Beckham has been able to take full advantage of that ever since he arrived in New York.

DeMarco Murray

2 of 10

DeMarco Murray is a huge fan of designer Vince Camuto—as you can see above. Camuto's muted color palettes and slim cuts have turned into a trademark look for the Tennessee Titans halfback.

It's become his calling card in terms of style. Murray has embraced it, using these tonal schemes to announce his fashion sense to the world. He has been a featured athlete by major branding platforms like Men's Wearhouse, per the company's official Twitter.

With so many variations on dress code out there, Murray's classic way of dressing remains appealing.

Antonio Brown

3 of 10

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown's style mirrors his outlandish on-the-field game. Take the Instagram blessing from above. Brown had no fear, breaking out a croche-patterned suit at the 2016 ESPY Awards.

Elite fashion involves taking risks and not always following trends. Brown stays away from said trends, using self-expression as the driving force behind his wardrobe choices.

Whether he's bouncing around in exotic suits or keeping things simple with a white T-shirt and gold-soaked Cuban link chains, AB remains an NFL fashion god.

Cam Newton

4 of 10

Cam Newton doesn't understand what conformity means. His fashion sense shatters the conventional rulebook, mixing up different colors, prints and sneakers on a daily basis.

The Carolina Panthers quarterback has been a regular in the pages of GQ for his ambitious style, as John Jannnuzzi of the publication highlighted. When you take risks in a fashionable way, headlines usually follow suit—Russell Westbrook has experienced this phenomenon in the NBA.

Newton's style is intriguing and it always pushes boundaries. It's almost a direct comparison to his game under center.

Julian Edelman

5 of 10

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was all about 2016's New York Fashion Week, per Meredith Goldstein of the Boston Globe. That week of cloth-cut debauchery focused in on Edelman's continued obsession with style.

In September 2015, Vogue's Steff Yotka was able to pry into his love for clothing. "I like looking at clothes, and I like going to shows and seeing new, fashion-forward stuff," Edelman told Yotka.

Clearly infatuated with the inner-workings of the industry, the Patriots' pass-catcher has turned his style into a noteworthy cause. You can browse his Instagram page and see the many different looks Edelman sports.

Each outfit is unique, despite always circling back to the idea of simplicity. He pulls off the "less is more" look better than most guys in the NFL.

Von Miller

6 of 10

The common theme we've seen among the NFL's best-dressed athletes has been their affinity for premium brands.

Von Miller has shown his dollars go a long way in the fashion department. The Denver Broncos edge-rusher sways toward labels like Amiri and Off-White in order to anchor his outfits. His kicks game is strong too, sporting timeless Adidas molds and other high-top creations.

We touched on how bucking trends is cool. But that doesn't totally mean you can move away from labels. Miller's style combines the best of both worlds. Using labels to further his agenda is all part of the plan.

Eric Decker

7 of 10

Eric Decker's style can be described as refined and in many ways, sudden. You can directly trace his appreciation for fashion back to his wife, Jessie James Decker, per Brittany Talarico of People.

Her inspiration and guidance has opened Decker's eyes to this world, turning him into a style icon. Unlike a lot of his peers, Decker tends to gravitate toward traditional looks. Blazers and dress shirts have become staples of his closet.

It doesn't matter how he stumbled into fashion. Decker's ability to dress sharp works for the New York market he plays in. There's something sophisticated about his style that has a Gotham feel to it.

Reggie Bush

8 of 10

Reggie Bush has endured quite the NFL career after leaving USC. He has spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and now, word is spreading he will sign with the Buffalo Bills, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

One thing is for certain when it comes to Bush's career: His charisma on the field has translated over into the fashion world. Bush's Instagram has become an assembly of fashion-related shots. The veteran tailback has shown off his love for trim suits, hats and tidy streetwear pieces.

Maybe when his NFL career finally comes to an end, the 31-year-old will make waves in the fashion industry. His personal style has been a constant source of inspiration dating to his rookie year in 2006.

Victor Cruz

9 of 10

The New York Giants have a pair of wide receivers who happen to have etched their names into the fashion world. Along with Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz has emerged as a pioneer.

His style melds around upscale, urban fits and timeless sneakers choices. Cruz's Instagram is amazing. Pictures showcase his own style, his relationship with menswear icon Ronnie Fieg, as well as collaborative work with Nike—Cruz was given his own signature sneaker in 2015.

Style is kept within the eye of the beholder. But it's hard to peruse through Cruz's images and not appreciate his sense of fashion.

Tom Brady

10 of 10

When you think about the National Football League and fashion, Tom Brady comes to mind. He has been immersed in this world ever since he married super model Gisele Bundchen in 2009.

Brady has gone from being the face of the New England Patriots to the face of brands like UGG. He's been featured in GQ as a man of the year candidate for 2015.

You can stack Brady's sophisticated style up against anyone on this list and he usually will come out on top. The longtime quarterback remains a defining member of the fashion community and a true NFL style icon.
