Von Miller Discusses Johnny Manziel's Off-Field Struggles
Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has arguably been Johnny Manziel's most vocal supporter while the embattled quarterback has combated a plethora of off-field troubles, and the Super Bowl 50 MVP spoke up Saturday regarding his desire to help his friend get back on his feet.
At a press conference at DeSoto High School, his alma mater, Miller expressed interest in helping Manziel in the face of adversity, per the Dallas Morning News' Avi Zaleon:
"I want to help get Johnny back to Johnny Manziel. Johnny Football, that's beside the fact. I want to get Johnny back to being Johnny Manziel. I remember what it was for me when I was in a similar situation, it was the people around me that helped motivate me to get to the same Von that I was.
He's had people walk out on him. He's had people who have given up on him. I'm not going to be that guy. I've never been that guy. Johnny's my brother. I didn't play with him at Texas A&M, but he's my brother and we have a unique relationship. I'm here to help him no matter what it is. I'm tied to him, good or bad. You can't ever count anybody out and I think everybody who has counted him out is just wrong.

While Miller didn't specify which people have given up on Manziel, he may have been pointing those words toward agent Drew Rosenhaus—who issued a public ultimatum Wednesday regarding his representation of the 23-year-old signal-caller, per ESPN's Adam Schefter:
Miller also said he speaks with Manziel every day via FaceTime, but he refrained from discussing his friend's future in the pros.
"Like I said before, I'm not worried about Johnny Football, I'm worried about Johnny Manziel—getting him back to the Johnny Manziel I know he can be," Miller said, per Zaleon.
Off-field issues have seemingly become a weekly occurrence for Manziel since the 2015 season came to a close.
Not only is he still under investigation for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, per WFAA's Rebecca Lopez, but he was also recently accused of trashing a home he rented in Los Angeles.
According to Emily Smith of Page Six, Manziel and his friends threw a party at the rental property and caused an alleged $32,000 worth of damage.
"They were supposed to check out at noon," real estate broker Nicholas Goodwin told Smith. "Manziel was passed out. ... There was cocaine all over the kitchen table, and mushrooms were still out on the table in front of him. There was booze everywhere...broken glasses over the floor and a Champagne glass in a tree."
Manziel previously told TMZ Sports that he was living with Miller in Los Angeles, but he retracted that claim in an apologetic Instagram post days later.
Miller also noted that while the two are not living together, he would have no problem welcoming Manziel into his home.
"I don't see a problem with him moving in," Miller said, per Zaleon. "I'm here to help him. Over everything else, I'm going to be with him every single day. He's not living with me, but we do continue to talk every single day and I'm here to help. I have his back."
