Manning Becomes 1st QB to Reach Multiple Super Bowls with 2 Teams

Bleacher Report MilestonesJan 25, 2016

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning earned a small piece of NFL history with Sunday's 20-18 win over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, becoming the first signal-caller in league history to reach the Super Bowl multiple times with two franchises, per ESPN Stats & Info.

While the Denver defense was the real star of Sunday's victory, the 39-year-old Manning also did his part, completing 17 of 32 pass attempts for 176 yards and two touchdowns, though he did lose a fumble in the first quarter to set up the Patriots' first touchdown.

Mostly just a game manager at this point in his career, Manning was a true superstar heading into each of his previous three Super Bowl appearances, which came at the end of the 2006, 2009 and 2013 seasons.

He took home his one and only ring with the Indianapolis Colts in 2006 but then fell just short of the prize in a memorable Super Bowl loss to the Saints after the 2009 season.

After breaking a slew of NFL records for the Broncos during the 2013 campaign, Manning was shockingly ineffective in a Super Bowl loss to the defensive-minded Seattle Seahawks, with the final score sitting at an ugly 43-8.

Per the Associated Press, Manning is now the oldest quarterback to lead a team to the Super Bowl, surpassing the record set in 1998 by former Bronco John Elway, who currently serves as the team's general manager and executive vice president of football operations.
