Daily Fantasy Football November 28: DFS Stock Up, Stock Down
After a delicious three-game Thanksgiving appetizer, the main course of the Week 12 daily fantasy football slateย has almost arrived.
Unfortunately for some players, though, they're not going to be as productive Sunday as the secondโor thirdโround of meals we devoured Thursday.
Injuries, recent trends and upcoming matchups each factor in the list. Use this information as a late-week research tool for the Week 12 slate on DraftKings.
Stock Up: Eli Manning, New York Giants
1 of 6
Eli Manning is a boom-or-bust player on the road, but Sunday sets up nicely for the New York Giants quarterback.
The veteran will face Washington, which recently lost starting cornerback Chris Culliver for the season and might be without No. 2 corner Bashaud Breeland.
Plus, Washington hasn't exactly had an elite secondary withย that duo healthy. After opposing quarterbacks each tossed two touchdowns in four successive games, Cam Newton torched Washington for five scores last week.
Manning, who costs $6,500, is among the mid-tier quarterbacks in terms of price but has arguably the highest ceiling during Week 12.
Stock Down: Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
2 of 6
Somewhat surprisingly, Matt Ryan ($6,900) is the fourth-highest-priced quarterback.
Run. Run away screaming.
While he's a decent start in a season-long league, Ryan is far from an appealing player in the daily format. Only three times has the Atlanta Falcons quarterback topped the 300-yard barrier, and just once has he accrued at least 25 DFS points.
The Minnesota Vikings and their sixth-ranked fantasy pass defense enter Atlanta Sunday. Ryan won't make DFS owners happy after the game.
Stock Up: James White, New England Patriots
3 of 6
The New England Patriots are running out of receivers. Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Aaron Dobson are either out or likely to be sidelined Sunday night against the Denver Broncos.
However, that leaves Brandon LaFell, Chris Harper and Matthew Slater to battle Chris Harris Jr., Aqib Talib and Bradley Roby, perhaps the NFL's best trio of quarterbacks.
Since the Broncos shouldn't have trouble controlling the outside with single coverage, they'll likely double-team Rob Gronkowski. Tom Brady has to throwย somewhere, and James White is New England's new pass-catching threat out of the backfield.
White isn't a flashy option, but he's a minimum-priced player ($3,000) who is facing a defense that has surrendered six total touchdowns to running backs over the past four weeks.
Just don't expect many rushing yards.
Stock Down: DeAngelo Williams, Pittsburgh Steelers
4 of 6
Because of previous production, DeAngelo Williams ($5,700) deserves being the seventh-highest-priced healthy running back because of previous production.
But that doesn't mean anything to the Seattle Seahawks front seven.
Seattle has allowed just three total touchdowns to opposing running backs, who have yet to reach 20 DFS points in a single game. Overall, the Seahawks boast the second-best fantasy run defense, per FF Toolbox.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are almost certain to place the game in Ben Roethlisberger's hands. Unless Williams catches a few passes and scores once, his upside is limited.
Stock Up: Rishard Matthews, Miami Dolphins
5 of 6
Typically, taking on the New York Jets means the top receiver is headed to the island with a one-man population of Darrelle Revis.ย Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News notes Revis is unavailable for Week 12 versus the Miami Dolphins, however.
Rishard Matthews ($4,400) is poised to be the biggest beneficiary, going against either Antonio Cromartie or Marcus Williams. Cromartie has been regularly burned, and Williams is liable to get beaten deep.
Matthews only caught one pass for 15 yards last week, but he had tallied four games of 13.2 points or more over the five previous outings.
Since Matthews will always have a favorable matchup against the short-handed Jets, he should score at least once. However, don't be shocked if he notches two touchdowns.
Stock Down: Emmanuel Sanders, Denver Broncos
6 of 6
Emmanuel Sanders is set to return after missing one game. The Denver Broncos listed him as probable for the showdown against the Patriots.
However, Sunday marks the first time Sanders will catch passes from Brock Osweiler in a live game. Given that and his health, Sanders' $6,800 price tag carries considerable risk.
Sanders will likely be a little-owned option, so he's a reasonable choice if contrarian plays are your thing. Plus, there's no debating Osweiler has a stronger arm than Peyton Manning.
But we don't know what to expect from the duo. It makes perfect sense to seek out and favor cheaper options with established quarterback connections.
