Brandon Lloyd Retires: Latest Comments and Reaction
Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, who last appeared in an NFL regular-season game with the San Francisco 49ers in 2014, announced his retirement Thursday.
Albert Breer of NFL.com tweeted an image of the press release:
Lloyd, 34, was a fourth-round draft pick by the Niners in the 2003 draft. He finished his career with 399 receptions for 5,989 yards and 36 touchdowns. His best season came in 2010, when he snagged 77 passes for 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Denver Broncos and was named to the Pro Bowl and the Associated Press All-Pro second team.
Though inconsistent, Lloyd had a penchant for making the spectacular catch. Despite being on the smaller side (6'0"), he was athletic enough to contort himself in the air to make some truly remarkable grabs.
Lloyd caught just 14 passes for 294 yards and a touchdown in 14 games with San Francisco in 2014 and didn't re-sign with the team or catch on with another organization.
