NFL Power Rankings: Week 6 Standings Based on Latest Super Bowl Odds
Heading into Week 6, Las Vegas says two teams have the best shot at making the Super Bowl.
It's not hard to figure out which teams. What's more interesting, though, is how things stack up from a power-rankings perspective when one aligns league hierarchy by the entire slate of Super Bowl odds out of Las Vegas.
Such an endeavor yields interesting results and perhaps a better perception of league standings than anyone outside of Las Vegas can provide considering they're a result of an army of professionals analyzing every little detail to best protect the house.

Analyzing Latest Oddsย
The Battle at the Topย
The aforementioned top two? The Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots, of course.
New England quarterback Tom Brady has his team at 4-0 with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions to his name. Silly narrative or not, the team is playing angry after the loads of offseason controversyย andย sitting on wins of 28-21, 40-32, 51-17 and 30-6. The impressive streak includes wins over two AFC hopefuls, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills.
On the NFC side of things, Aaron Rodgers has the Packers at 5-0. He's also been impressive, tossing 13 scores to two picks. Green Bay hasn't blown away the opposition the way New England has, but wins over the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams aren't anything to sniff at.
There shouldn't be any debate over the top two to say the least. Really, no other team belongs in the same room as them right now, and it's hard to imagine anyone would complain if Las Vegas hit the nail on the head, and they wound up facing off for the Lombardi Trophy.
The Others Standing Undefeatedย
Fans of other undefeated teams will cry foul about the top two, of course.
The Denver Broncos stand undefeated, albeit shaky with quarterback Peyton Manning struggling as they escaped their last two contests by a total of nine points. Although surprising, the Carolina Panthers are looking a tad shaky too, as quarterback Cam Newton's herculean effort to keep the team in games is only overshadowed by the fact it has been an easy four-game slate so far.
More impressive is the Atlanta Falcons, undefeated through five games. Matt Ryan's playing somewhat well with six touchdowns to four picks, but most interesting is breakout star running back Devonta Freeman, who has 405 yards and eight scores already.
Thanks to its most balanced attack in years, Atlanta certainly looks like it could contend with Green Bay in the NFCโasย could the Cincinnati Bengals against the Patriots in the AFC.
Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton looks like a different person this year, having thrown 11 scores to two picks. His team just rattled off 17 fourth-quarter points to secure an overtime win against the Seattle Seahawks, an impressive feat given numbers provided by ESPN's Kevin Negandhi:
It's no wonder Las Vegas feels so strongly about the Bengals, right?
The Nosedivesย
A power-rankings list compiled with Super Bowl odds wouldn't be complete without mention of the whiffs.
Before the season, oddsmakers and the globe as a whole thought the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions would be right in the thick of things for at least a postseason bid.
Apparently not.
The 49ers sit at 1-4 after a miserable offseason. The defense has allowed three teams to score at least 30 points, and Colin Kaepernick hasn't been able to get it going at all, throwing four scores to five picks while taking 16 sacks.
Despite the woes, he doesn't sound like one to just give up on a season. He spoke with Tyler Emerick of 49ers.com about the team's record: โTo me, there are still 11 more games. We have an opportunity to go 12-4. Thatโs a good record, and thatโs what weโre aiming for, but we have to get our first win under our belt to get that streak going and get on that path.โ
The Lions might not have a choice but to give up. They sit as the league's only winless team in large part because the defense has allowed four of five opponents to score 24 or more points.
Detroit's offense hasn't been much better, throwing 233 passes to just 87 rushes. Those rushes have totaled 2.8 yards per carry, and Matthew Stafford just got benched in favor of Dan Orlovsky in the team's last outing.
If bettors need encouragement that the house isn't perfect and Super Bowl odds are worth the investment, they need to look no further than these two.
