Shareece Wright Rumors: Latest Buzz and Speculation Surrounding Free-Agent CB

Daniel KramerOct 12, 2015

Shareece Wright was granted a requested release by the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 10, and the cornerback has reportedly already reached an agreement with the Baltimore Ravens, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network first reported Wright would be signing with the Ravens and added he "fills an immediate need."

Zrebiec also noted the Ravens added Asa Jackson and Charles James to bolster secondary depth.

Ravens cornerback Will Davis tore his ACL in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns.

Wright, who started 27 games for the San Diego Chargers from 2011-2014, signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the 49ers in March but was not active in any games this season, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

Wright lost $21,875 for every game he was inactive, per CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, prompting him to seek a trade or release.

The Ravens aren't getting a star in Wright, but he will provide experience in the secondary and a veteran presence in the locker room.

With Baltimore currently ranking 25th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game, they could use all the help they can get right now.
