NFL Week 5 Picks: Game Props, over-Under Lines and Odds Predictions

With the NFL racing past the one-quarter point of the 2015 season and surprises abound, Week 5 is set to produce a number of matchups that betting aficionados can take advantage of.

Perhaps the perfect starts of the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos were to be expected, but that's not to say the first four weeks of the season have lacked surprises. Lowly starts from the Detroit Lions (0-4) and Miami Dolphins (1-3), along with dominant starts from the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers (both 4-0), have shown it's not as easy as it seems to predict how things will go.

With that said, there remains a couple of games on the Week 5 slate worth going in on as teams headed in different directions face off. Let's take a look at all of the odds for the upcoming weekend.

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens

After avoiding a treacherous 0-4 start by the skin of their teeth, the Baltimore Ravens turn around to face another divisional foe in what feels like an early-season must-win game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Ravens were staring 0-4 in the face last Thursday in Pittsburgh before kicker Josh Scobee bailed them out with a plethora of missed field goals that allowed Baltimore to mount a late comeback. It's no coincidence that Scobee is now a free agent.

Baltimore may have some momentum in the form of that win, but it will be scraping the bottom of the playmaker barrel for the coming weeks. As ESPN.com's Jamison Henley reported, the Ravens offense could be without as many as five starters Sunday, with Steve Smith sidelined along with Crockett Gilmore and others. Promising wideout Michael Campanaro is also out for the season. 

However, a key advantage on the other side of the ball could prove beneficial for Baltimore, as Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer noted:

The Browns look much better than the unit that lost 31-10 to the New York Jets on opening weekend, but they have still failed to contend against below-average squads in the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers these past two weeks. Neither of those teams will play with the desperation that the Ravens will show, as they eye a big opportunity to get back into the AFC North race.

Don't expect Joe Flacco to be deterred by his lack of receivers, as he'll make it work and lean on Justin Forsett in a tight victory.

Prediction: Ravens 23, Browns 20

St. Louis Rams at Green Bay Packers

The up-and-down St. Louis Rams are on a high after their surprise win over the Arizona Cardinals this past weekend, but they're bound to come crashing back down to earth with a visit to Lambeau Field.

Alas, the Rams travel to a venue where the Green Bay Packers have been nothing short of dominant in the last few years. They are 2-0 against two solid ballclubs (Seattle and Kansas City) at Lambeau in 2015, making them 11-of-11 at home dating back to 2014.

Even more worrisome for St. Louis is the fact that Aaron Rodgers just doesn't turn the ball over at home. He's in the midst of an all-time NFL record, throwing more than 480 straight passes there without an interception.

Rodgers taking care of the ball has been a game-changer for Green Bay, as head coach Mike McCarthy told the team's official Twitter account:

The Rams have a boisterous front seven capable of giving Rodgers some trouble, as St. Louis sacked Arizona's Carson Palmer four times last week—the Cardinals had given up one sack on the season prior to that game. The same can't be expected, however, against the Packers at home.

For all of St. Louis' formidability up front, its weakness on defense is still in the secondary, which Rodgers will exploit.
