Patriots' Brady Throws 400th Career Touchdown Pass
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady recorded the 400th and 401st passing touchdowns of his career during Sunday's 51-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, joining Peyton Manning (535), Brett Favre (508) and Dan Marino (420) as the only players with 400 or more touchdown passes, per pro-football-reference.com.
Brady was a lock to reach the milestone in Week 3, having thrown a touchdown pass in every game since the start of the 2014 season, with the exception of a meaningless Week 17 contest against the Buffalo Bills in which he was removed after halftime.
Brady already had seven touchdown passes this season, and the two he added leave him tied with Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer for the NFL lead at nine.
Brady also leads the league in completions (96), pass attempts (133) and passing yards (1,112), ranking sixth in completion percentage (72.2), third in passer rating (119.6) and seventh in yards per pass attempt (8.36).
He's also one of just three Week 1 starters—along with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning—who has yet to throw an interception this season.
Brady needs just 20 more touchdowns to pass Marino for third place on the all-time list, which now seems like a foregone conclusion, barring a severe injury.
The four signal-callers may soon have company in the 400-touchdown club, as New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who missed Week 3 with a shoulder injury, is currently at 398 career touchdown passes.
