Bryce Harper and Manager Matt Williams Ejected After Harper Steps Out of Box

Thomas DuffyMay 20, 2015

The best umpires are the ones nobody talks about.

After home plate ump Marvin Hudson called a strike on a pitch well below Bryce Harper's knees Wednesday night, Harper's body language said what everyone was thinking: That was a ball.

Washington Nationals manager Matt Williams didn't like the call, so he voiced his displeasure from the dugout. Hudson then told Harper to get back in the box, and when the slugger didn't comply to Hudson's liking, he got tossed.

Here's Harper's version of the incident, per MLB.com's Andrew Simon:

Williams understandably lost his cool and received an ejection. Twitter got almost as heated as the coach:

Harper is batting .489 with 10 homers and 23 RBI these past two weeks. Despite the home team defeating the New York Yankees, 3-2, fans who attended Wednesday night's Nationals game were robbed.
