La'el Collins' Paternity Test for Brittney Mills' Child Reportedly Negative
A paternity test reportedly showed former LSU offensive tackle La'el Collins is not the father of the child that was killed in the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Brittney Mills.
ESPN's Josina Anderson received the news from Collins' camp. She also reports he passed a polygraph test that was meant to determine his involvement in the case.
A projected first-round pick, Collins went unselected in last week's NFL draft after news of Mills' murder made national headlines. Mills, 29, died April 24 when she opened the door for an as-yet-unidentified person, who shot her in the torso. The child died May 1.

Collins was first contacted by prosecutors the week before the draft but was in Chicago for the festivities. He has since returned to Baton Rouge to meet with investigators, who have maintained he is not currently a suspect.
"It went fine; we answered all their questions," Collins' attorney, Jim Boren, told . "La'el is not going to make any comments. I'm not going to have any comments. The investigation is going to continue. La'el is now going to start making an effort to start getting his football career back on track."
If formally cleared, Collins is expected to draw interest from a number of NFL teams. He recently had dinner with Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan, who told ESPN's Mike Rodak that was "the extent of it." The Cowboys have also expressed interest and will meet with Collins on Wednesday, per Ross Dellenger of The Advocate. Anderson indicated interest is already high with news of the paternity results:
Bleacher Report's Matt Miller had Collins No. 21 overall on his final big board. Collins projects as a run-blocking specialist at right tackle or guard.
