Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Updated Day 3 Predictions

Ross ReadMay 1, 2015

As we approach the final day of the draft, the Bears have three remaining picks. They have done a nice job finding three potential starters in the first three rounds and now will look to add depth.

Defense and special teams should be the primary focus, but the Bears could opt for one more skill player on offense. Quarterback seems to be off the board but you never know how things might shake out.

In the final mock of this year's draft, we have two prospects from the Big 10 and one from Notre Dame going to the Bears. Click ahead to see who could be the final guys to get their names called for the Bears.

Round 4

1 of 3
Doran Grant
Doran Grant

The Bears can use some depth at corner and special teams help. Ohio State's Doran Grant provides both.

At 5'10" and 200 pounds, Grant has good size for a backup corner. He ran a 4.44-second 40 at the combine and showed good strength benching 21 reps.

Grant started every game over the past two seasons at Ohio State and proved to be a very intelligent player identifying routes. He has good hands and is always active around the football ripping and tugging away at it.

If he's in zone coverage, he can play on the field but will struggle to keep up with NFL receivers in man coverage. He's a willing tackler who could play on the inside in zone only.

Round 5

2 of 3
Taiwan Jones
Taiwan Jones

You can never have enough linebackers and Michigan State's Taiwan Jones has the kind of size NFL teams love.

At 6'3" and 245 pounds, Jones loves to sit in the middle of the field and knock down anything that comes his way. He does a good job shooting the A-gap and can rush the quarterback. Jones has good closing speed and does a good job wrapping up on tackles.

Don't ask Jones to drop into coverage too often. He looks very stiff doing it and doesn't have the best instincts to stay with a player in the open field.

With the Bears picking a nose tackle in the second round, Jones could be a good fit as a guy who can help clean up the play and make some bone jarring hits on special teams.

Round 6

3 of 3
Ben Koyack
Ben Koyack

Dante Rosario just isn't an adequate backup tight end. The Bears could use a young man who could develop into a decent football player and Notre Dame's Ben Koyack can be that guy.

At 6'5" and 255 pounds, Koyack has the size and athleticism teams are looking for out of a tight end. He's a very good receiver who uses his hands well and focuses on squeezing the ball. Koyack also does a solid job in run blocking, which is a plus when looking for a backup.

The knock on Koyack is his experience. Notre Dame didn't use him a whole lot and he still has a lot to learn before getting any kind of consistent field time. He's worth a late-round pick because he could catch on in training camp and snag a roster spot.
