Browns Reportedly Sign Bowe

Thursday, March 19

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Bowe and the Browns have come to an agreement on a deal.

On March 17, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported on talks between the Cleveland Browns and Bowe, saying that the two sides "aren't there yet. Get sense they have been off on terms (usually case) but something could develop today."

On March 14, Josina Anderson of ESPN reported that Bowe was in Cleveland on a visit. On March 15, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added that they brought him in "with the intention of not letting him leave. Big commitment to sign a top WR."

ESPN's Adam Caplan noted, "Bowe's meeting with Browns coaches and front office went very well, source said. Interest from player and team is clearly there."

On March 12, Fowler reported that Cleveland is keen on pursuing Bowe on the open market:

There's no question that Cleveland needed a proven pro to add to its receiving corps. Bowe doesn't have game-changing speed, but he does have tremendous hands, a bigger catch radius than any current Browns receiver and is an ideal fit based on his past with general manager Ray Farmer.

However, Bowe was part of a Chiefs receiving corps that failed to catch a touchdown pass in 2014. This raises at least some concern as to just how much Bowe will thrive if the Browns make him a primary receiving option.
