Cole Has Multiple Suitors
Saturday, March 7
Cole has 85.5 career sacks and could help any number of teams, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the first organization to meet with him, according to Caplan:
The Bucs confirmed the visit on their website Thursday, while Caplan revealed that the Browns and Cardinals were also interested in Cole.
As part of a firestorm of surprising moves, the Eagles released Cole on March 4 after 10 productive seasons with the organization.
Cole commented on his free agency via his Twitter account:
He later went on to reflect on his tenure in Philadelphia, saying: "Couldn't thank Philadelphia, New Jersey, and all Eagles Fans enough. I greatly enjoyed the times there as a Eagle. Forever a Eagle."
While he is a defensive end by trade, Cole moved to outside linebacker under Eagles head coach Chip Kelly and had some success to the tune of 14.5 sacks over two seasons. Even so, Philly felt the need to part ways with the 32-year-old star.
While Cole may not necessarily be in the midst of his prime anymore, he has a body of work that simply cannot be ignored.
