Gore Heading to Colts After Reconsidering Eagles Deal

Tuesday, March 10

The Colts officially announced the signing of Gore, via their Twitter account:

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Gore will be getting $8.5 million in guaranteed money.

On March 9, the running back reportedly reconsidered his future, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Schefter noted the Eagles were "now in market for other RBs."

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reported a conflicted Gore "was in tears last night" and has been "curious" about playing with Andrew Luck

Report: 49ers Offer Gore 1-Year Contract

Monday, March 9

Mindi Bach of CSN Bay Area reported that San Francisco's offer to Gore is for one year at "roughly $4 million." Bach added, "All of the money, essentially, would be guaranteed."

Baalke Comments on Gore

Wednesday, Feb. 18

General manager Trent Baalke sounded confident Gore will return to the 49ers, via Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com: "It’s at the same place it was the last time we talked. We’re still working on it. It’s not something that’s going to get done yesterday. It’ll take some time to resolve. It’s our intention to have Frank back."

On Feb. 17, Gore's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN's Ed Werder that the 49ers want to re-sign Gore this offseason and that there is "nothing negative" between the team and player.

However, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller reported that there is "no way" the running back is in San Francisco next season:

Gore Seeking Super Bowl Opportunity

Monday, Feb. 16

The veteran running back is expected to command interest from a number of competitors this offseason looking to shore up their backfields. However, Barrows reported Gore is looking to achieve career milestones wherever he plays next season.

"

A source close to him said Gore wants two things: 1.) Another 1,000-yard season, which would put him past 12,000 yards for his career, and 2.) A chance at a Super Bowl title.

Achieving both would boost Gore toward his goal of reaching the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

[...]

Gore would need to be the 49ers’ lead running back to gain 1,000 yards. He earned nearly $6.5 million in each of the last two seasons, a figure the 49ers -- or any other team -- are unlikely to give to a runner who turns 32 in May. It’s also unknown whether the 49ers plan to give more carries in 2015 to Carlos Hyde, a second-round pick in 2014 who showed promise as a rookie.
