Calvin Johnson Closing in on 10,000 Career Receiving Yards
Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson will face the Chicago Bears on Thursday with a chance to become the 43rd player to eclipse 10,000 career receiving yards, per Pro-Football-Reference.com.
Johnson entered Sunday's 34-9 loss to the New England Patriots 152 yards short of the mark and then put together a middling stat line of four catches for 58 yards on 10 targets. The game left him with 9,906 receiving yards, just 94 short of the milestone.
The Lions failed to do much offensively, as they were held out of the end zone for a second straight week, marking the only two times the team hasn't reached pay dirt this season. Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed just 18 of his 46 pass attempts for 264 yards, contributing to Johnson's lack of receiving yards.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Among the list of active receivers, Johnson currently sits ninth in yardage. However, he is the only one in the top 16 under the age of 30. Of those ahead of him, Larry Fitzgerald is the youngest at age 31, currently owning 12,025 yards.
While Megatron is on pace for his lowest totals in every significant receiving category since his rookie season, he has essentially played in just six of the Lions' 11 games thus far, as two of his appearances were marred by injuries. But, if he remains healthy, the schedule sets up nicely for him to finish the season strong.
Johnson has reached 94 receiving yards just twice this season, but he will face a Bears defense allowing the fourth-most receiving yards per game. If he can reach 10,000 yards, the 29-year-old wideout will have a little more to celebrate on Thanksgiving.
