The Cuban slugger becomes the fourth MLB player to sign with Roc Nation, joining teammate and countryman Rusney Castillo, as well as Robinson Cano and CC Sabathia. Kevin Durant and Victor Cruz are among other big names who have been attracted by the allure of Jay Z and Co.

Cespedes originally signed a four-year deal worth $36 million while with Katz, who has now lost two major clients after watching Baltimore Orioles star Nelson Cruz switch agencies just two weeks ago.

Now with the Boston Red Sox after spending his first two-and-a-half seasons with the Oakland Athletics, Cespedes' future in Bean Town was already being questioned.

The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo recently reported the Sox were mulling over the idea of putting the 29-year-oldโ€”who is set to make over $10 million in 2015, the last year of his contractโ€”on the trade block.

If the Sox were indeed hemming and hawing about keeping Cespedes long term, this move, which will likely skyrocket his price tag, isn't going to change their minds. Roc Nation Sports got $240 million for Cano last winter, and while Cespedes isn't the same kind of talent, he's certainly in line for a huge raise.

Combine this price-driving switch with the fact his OPS in Boston was more than .100 points lower than his rookie season, and the outfielder is looking like an increasingly risky acquisition once his contract is up.

That said, a team with deep pockets will still be able to land themselves a dangerous middle-of-the-order hitter with massive powerโ€”71 home runs in three seasonsโ€”and a cannon for an arm. There's just no more chance of a discount with Roc Nation leading negotiations.
